Got me Weld Stonecrushers polished and 37" BFG ATs.

Spent 3 hours polishing and mounting. Late last night went to supermarket for off-roading supplies, the truck was all over the place!

Steering wheel was vibrating (worse at low speed), rubber squeeling noise was heard when turning right, front tires rub MUCH worse...

No Mojave today..

Did I just bought the wrong wheels for the H2, or is this just a balance and alignment issue?

PLEASE HELP!!

Close up, the wheel's center is larger than the hub on the H2; i.e. the wheels are held by just the 8 lugs. Is this ok?

Also, the stance is much wider than stock, even though the tire is same 12.5".

The tires are 37x12.5x17. No idea on the backspacing and width of wheels (bought them already mounted, no info from seller other than 8x6.5 lug pattern).

How do you balance the tires mounted on the truck? What kind of place should I look for that can do that?

They look like 10"'s and you're probably hitting the sway bar pretty good.

Stonecrushers are available in 17x8, 17x10, 3.625" and 4.625" backspacings, for the 8x6.5 pattern. Without removing the tire, I have no idea how to measure..

Ken, the tires rub at the back of the tire wells. These actually do not touch the sway bars.

I'm bringing it to a truck tire alignement place tomorrow and see if they can fix it.

Phil,

Have you seen the hub adapter that mounts on to a normal balancer which has fingers that goes into each hole simulating a hubcentric fitting?

Though my wheels are not a hubcentric fitting, we used that adapter. The other thing is, we got a better balance from doing a static balance on the machine that doing the inner/outer setup.

Save yourself the guessing, and it should have the size marked on the backside of the wheel. You may also make sure you have the correct lug nuts!
The wheels look like they are 8.5" wide, because of the way the tire doesn't bulge(But it's hard to tell from a pic).
You should be able to go to your local big rig shop and have your tires balanced a shaved, once you have made sure they are centered on your hub. I would go to a reputable high performance shop, and ask them for the hubcentric adapters to try and get them, and keep them as centered as possible!

Ric, I checked on hubcentric rings, but no one has them in the correct diameters. Too large (130.1 to 116.7) for anyone to stock.

But I was told that I need a different set of lug nuts (a different taper than oem), which will work much better in centering them.

Also found out my pitman and idler are shot again. Alignment place recommended Moog (anyone familiar with them?). But I will try dealership first, to see if my extended warranty will cover replacement with stock parts.

Otherwise, the truck rides fine for now -- though with the additional rubbing, I'd prob change back to the old rims (& sucky MTRs) before off-roading.

So, total costs:

4 (used) 37" BFG/ATs on 4 17" Weld Stonecrushers -- $400

Chrome lug nuts -- $64

Lifetime balancing (& tire rotation) -- $80

Front-end alignment -- $50

NEW BLING-BLING FOR MY 2 -- Priceless!!
