In my research on 35's, the only rubbing is at full crank of the wheel (which you get anyways with the 33's ) and when completely stuffed. But I have not seen anyone tear off their fenderwells or have any carnage from the rubbing. There are even a few brave souls who have not cranked their torsion bars and had good luck with 35" toyos. (Green Lantern if I remember correctly)

There are some pics on here somewhere of a H3 with 35" bfg a/t, it looks good, but not as good as any of the mud terrains people have.

A couple of questions:

1. Do the 35's generally need to have torsion bars cranked? What does this do?
2. Is there anything size-wise between the Adv 33's and the 35's worth considering?

1: 3 turns of the Tbars raises the front end up high enough to make room for the 35's to fit when aired down and your flexed up. Some truck require no cranking while I think a couple of truck here had 4 or 5 turns. You will also need a front end alignment when done.

2: 35's gove you more ground clearance and a little better AP and DP angles. = less smacking the bottom of your truck.

I'm currently in the process of shopping for tires too, and as far as your question no 2 goes, I see two other sizes in the lists (beside standard 285's, but they still will be some 33-33.5") - I'm considering those for myself because I'm not too excited about cranking the torsion bars out of factory specs, but I do like the look of 35's. So I'm undecided, do I want the 33's and keep close to stock handling and performance, or 35's with better off-road capability and killer looks, but on expense of somewhat out of specs torsion bars tension, and possibly some extra strain put on the suspension, and possibly bit worse daily ride (lower acceleration I can imagine for instance)?

Whether these tires are worth the upgrade from stock adventure Bridgestone 285/75/R16 is questionable, but I currently have low profile 32's (305/50/R20), so they look good to me, better then the stock 33's. These should fit stock 16" alloy wheels that I'm planning to buy from my dealer.

Toyo (Open Country A/T, 2-ply sidewall):
LT295/75R16 123Q OAD:33.39", rim size: 7.5-8.0-9.5, weight: 56.7 lbs
LT305/70R16 124Q OAD:32.68", rim size: 8.0-9.0-9.5, weight: 57.5 lbs

Toyo (Open Country M/T, 3-ply sidewall):
LT285/75R16 126P OAD:33.00", rim size: 7.5-8.0-9.0, weight: 68.0 lbs
LT305/70R16 124P OAD:33.00", rim size: 8.0-9.0-9.5, weight: 72.0 lbs

for comparison:
Toyo 35" M/T
LT315/75R16 127Q OAD:34.90", rim size: 8.0-8.5-10.0, weight 76.0 lbs

Bridgestone 33" A/T (stock adventure tire)
LT285/75R16 122/119Q OAD:32.9" rim size: 7.5-9.0 8.0, weight: 54.0 lbs

I?m still checking out the specs lists from other manufacturers (BFG etc), but the sizes should be similar.

I'm absolutely not an expert but looks like the M/T's are more rugged, more durable tires. I think they would be a better choice then the stock 33" Bridgestone A/T's. I kind of like the idea to mount the Toyo LT285/75R16 M/T (wish the M/T would have the 295 size available)? I?d keep everything pretty much within the factory specs, gain the 3-ply durability and overall puncture resistance, get the aggressive tread for off-road driving, and enjoy the apparently good looks? but yes, the 35?s?.I guess I will never make my mind, and will drive on my silly low-profiles until I?ll trade-in the car...

Went forward - no trouble at all.
Here are some more from that trip:
http://s218.photobucket.com/albums/c...20Hummer%20H3/

Loaded them backwards, so start from the bottom and go up.

I did have some minor rubbing on full lock, bu I can't remember whether it was full left or right.
