Great work on the stats Wisha!!

I was looking at an FJ today, it had the optional front skid plate on. It lowered the ground clearance in the front to under 9 inches.

It's nice to know that the H3 with standard skid plates has better ground clearance than an FJ with an optional skid plate.

Stunning amount of work you did there!

Two comments: The speed at crawl ratio chart is good on numbers, but in reality won't really apply. You'd need a second chart separating the manuals from the automatics. The torque converter's not locked up at 1500 rpm. Granted, since the H3 in particular has jack squat for engine braking in the auto, it's a tossup, but one thing's for sure, instead of stalling, the auto will still be running, and pulling, even when the vehicle is dead stopped. Something to think about.

The H1 Alpha's mpg figures. Where's you get 'em? Dmaxes get 12mpg on the freeway pulling a 10,000lb fifth wheel! I find it really hard to believe that the H1 Alpha only gets 12mpg.

I think it's hilarious that eco-terrorists (like the ones that race to cut me off in Boulder) hate the H3, but laud the FJC for its "better" gas mileage. They're usually the ones commuting 30 miles from their mountain cabins and running snow tires all year

1) its a 2007 FJ Cruiser.
2) The 2wd man tranny version gets 21 mpg, 4wd rated at 19mpg I think.

My last tank of gas gave me just under 20mpg for a manual 06 H3. Average milage for 16K miles: just over 18mpg. I'll take it

True about the difference in crawl speeds between autos and manuals. They should be in separate charts.

About the H1 Alpha, Hummer didn't report official MPG figures on their website, so I had to do some searching. Here's one source at Autobytel. Not all sites gave mpg, but all that did agreed, so I used their numbers.

Oops! Good catches ... I got the auto and manual mpgs backwards. All corrections are welcome

Yeah, I'll keep the H3 too. Not to mention, the FJ runs on premium. That's about $3.35/gal around here lately.

Well, from what I could find, the Alpha drivers that are getting only 12mpg are flogging the crap out of their rigs, driving 80mph. I can tell you that with my Duramax, driving 70-75 I got around 17mpg. On freeway trips where I took it easy at 60-65mph, I got just shy of 22mpg! How you drive it makes a huge difference. Again, a dmax pulling a big assed 5th wheel gets 12mpg.
