Most of my driving is city, almost all of it. As soon as I see a light turn red I take my foot off the gas and start coasting. As soon as I see a car turning or something I start coasting. I know that I let off the gas way before other people. I'm really good at not having to hit the brakes when in traffic, I can time it so I'm just rolling along at 20mph or whatever traffic is going and I see 10 cars in front of me hitting their brakes and I dont have to hit mine at all or very little when I get too close.

Try it. You'd be suprised if your really paying attention how much you can save by as soon as you see a light turn red you let off the gas. THeres a fine line you dont want to be going too slow where cars start passing you before you get to the light etc. But alot of times in traffic I'll be the only car out of 10 that doesnt have to hit my brakes at all in slow and go traffic. Ovbiously if the cars are stopping you have to stop, but the less gas you spend and the less braking saves you pads and rotors and lots of gas over time.

Let me know I'm also a bit aggressive on the accelerator, and people could probably average over 13mpg by coasting alot and not slamming on the accelerator.

But of course its all in the eye of the beholder. I dont really like paying for gas in my H2, where in my sports cars I dont really care what gas is, but my porsche also gets 27mpg freeway lol. One of the main reasons I hate paying for gas in my H2's is because we spend over $10,000 every month for gas.

This question goes along with the other age old question, "Do you smoke after sex"? Yet, gets the same reply, "I don't know - I never look down there"!
