I also got the last Stant locking cap at my Pep Boys. I heard they are a discontinued item (unless Stant gets the news and does something).

believe me you can't tell and no one else can either.
The white writing on my cap has already worn off so you cannot even tell the difference.
I'm an artist and I am VERY funny about detail and this DOES not bother me one bit.
After returning to my vehicle after shopping ( on 3 occasions) and finding folks opening my gas cap it was a NO BRAINER that looks were not important.

Any body seen the SMA "aluminum locking fuel door"? Is it a gas cap or a flip out door? That's the question. It says sold out on the SMA web site:

I'm heading out later today and check. I might take up your offer if they don't have one.
Thanks.

$5 profit per cap, all you need to sell is 12,000 caps to pay for the Hummer. If Uncle Sam is involved here, then you have to sell 16,000-20,000 caps. If you put HUMMER name on the cap, maybe there is another $5 pop, all you have to sell is 6,000 caps to pay for the Hummer. What you do is to start a rumor that someone somewhere put sugar or water in a Hummer without locking gas cap. Count them money! Laughing all the way to the bank! As a matter of fact, I bought one of Hummermom's locking gass caps at eBay. I suppose that's a Stant cap too.
Haven't gotten it yet from mailing address in Florida.
Now I was just wondering what the SMA deal is.
Is it a (locking) flipping (round) door, as the one designed by Bruce Canepa in his battle-ship-H2 or is it similar to the Stant cap, but made maybe a little more fancier in aluminum.
How's that 4 security: locking your gass with door AND cap!

AMY...
Go to www.hummerstuff.com and look at the chrome hummer license frames. Maybe if you are good Santa Claus will bring you one as a stocking stuffer.

As long as I own this Hummer, the dealer will give free hand wash and shammy dry. 5 days a week if needed. Twice a week is average!

Kragen had the 11591 (was 11589). I didn't see any 11589, but remembered Big Z's post and there were 5 of the 591s.
Fits perfectly. Removed the 'warning' stuff using nail polish remover. It's all black and looks OEM as others said.
Thanks!

BIG Z- where did you get your H2? Not an authorized dealer, I bet. Your id says you're from central Oregon. That's a looooong way from the nearest Hummer dealer.

You know what....I did not even need any special tools to get the barb out of the hole.
I just kept wiggling and manuevering the end until it popped out. The end of the barb is T shaped so it only takes some "puzzle" work to get it out.
Take some paper towels with you as I got a little gas on my hands. I did not notice it at first but hubby said it was not an attractive scent on a girlie-girl.

Stant has a replacement nubmer as well fo rthe 11589, it's 10589. I got one at O'Reilly auto parts. $16.99 Worksfine and looks good. If the white lettering wears off like Hummer gril says so much the better. I feel much more secure now, with the wackos out there.

I got the locking gas cap. The last one at the store. There are two possibilities, 1) it is not a very popular model, or 2) All of the H2 forum readers have been flocking to Pep Boys to buy that cap!
....now I just have to wait for my H2 to get here. ;-)

Thanks to h2fan, I got the Stant 11589 locking gas cap from him in New York. h2fan, my check is in the mail. Fits perfectly. Now I am free to go back to my nasty cut throat back stabbing business practices without worrying about anyone put weird stuff into my gas tank.
Thanks to Hummerbot, I pulled out the cap attachment from the base easily, just wiggled it a bit.
I don't think I will paint the cap, I like the little warning letters on the cap, looks military to me. When I was in a combat engineering field company, we used to stencil paint letters on our military vehicles.
I did spray paint the license frame screws black by using model spray primer, which is mat black; also changed the dealer frame to a solid black frame, making my butt in solid all black color.
