Sounds like maybe the VATS module for the remote starter has gone bad. If it is an older remote, some of the first generation bypas modules could "creep" out of the correct resistor range. May need a trip to your local alarm/remote shop. Find out who your local hummer dealer sends theirs to...

Thats what i find strange. Is that once the fob is into remote start mode,i then cant do anything else with the fob. It will not respond to me opening the doors or shutting off the engine. I have to get in to the car manually through the door lock. Pressing the foot brake without the key in the ignition used to cut the engine off. Now it keeps running when i do the same. I have to put the key in the barrel, turn the ignition on,then off,and wait 5-10 secs for the engine to cut out.

I will try putting the old lights back on and see if that makes any difference. Regarding a Hummer dealer. We have no dedicated Hummer dealers in the UK.We have many specialised American car dealers who will cover a vast range of american cars from Hummers, other SUV,s Trucks Camaro,s Vette,s Mustangs and Challengers etc. American cars in the UK are sold to a very niche market. And its not that big do warrant U.S companys setting up dealerships here. The only official dealerships here are Jeep and . But they are set up for selling the Nitro,300c And Jeep. And are totally hopeless at proper built U,S stuff. G.M sells the small chevy volt through the Vauxhall dealerships here. But thats it.

Check for a wire splice into the data link connector under dash left side purple wire. Sounds like aftermarket remote start creating a problem on the data line. If there is a splice there attempt a remote sart then measure the voltage from that wire to ground. Key off should be 0. Key on it should toggle between 0 and 5 volts, wont see those numbers exactly but it should change up and down. If its solid 5v or higher your remote start module is creating a voltage spike on the data line.
