Klaus, I too agree! Black for those of us that are not into the Billet look. Maybe Harry could add this to their production...shouldn't be too hard to do. Put me on the list for a black one that locks!

Hummerman? Harry? I don't really care which of you is legit----- I'm more interested in sending you some cash and receiving this gascap cover as soon as it's available. please contact me via email when this is available as originally pictured (Hummer logo, locking or not are both fine, and matching the factory stock wheels(brushed look, as pictured innitially on this thread) is just groovy.
Thanks.

Just bought my yellow hummer and just loving the rig! So, what's the verdict on AMP?? Is it the same as what SMA is selling. I had heard SMA is making with hummer machined in as well. What about a locking version? Black?
Any news of us late comers?

<--- speechless..
I'm sure hummer man and avalance aren't trying to do anything dishonest. Just bring a new product forward. But if this is the Case Mr. Leitner, maybe you could provide some information for us on your fuel doors as there are plenty of interested people here.

I remember I came across their site because they were mentioned in the last MotorTrend SUV edition magazine.
http://www.amp-research.com/store/fueldoor.htm
Somebody shaved off a good chunk of that market already with a first to market product. I bought one and I think I overpayed for the quality I got. Scary that there internal prototype picture made it out to the Internet.
The only way they can catch up now is by producing a better product.

Very easy 5 minute installation three screws. You still use your Factory Fuel cap and tether.

I read all the information on the thread here and understand that AMP Research is supposed to have the fuel door. My comment was not meant to be misconstrued as being directed at any one person......it was however, pointed at this thread and the opportunity to purchase one...assuming it would be available with the Hummer logo that matches the OEM wheels. If AMP research is the manufacturer, perfect.........however if another legitimate manufacturer produces one.....I will purchase it when available. I am not really interested in the arguments posed that are related to patent infringements since I have dealt with many of my own patent infringements in days past. I am simply a potential customer to someone who produces a product of my liking.
Thank you for your time

I am more than happy to assist people in answering their questions and concerns. I am hesitant to post specific info regarding the Alloy Fuel Door for the H2 but here are some helpful hints:
1) The fuel door will not be available for retail sale for another 6-8 weeks, mainly because we are waiting on tooling. We have injection molded a whole new plastic fuel cup. The cup will come attached to the fuel door; hence installation literally takes 2 minutes (snap in design after removing the stock fuel cup).
2) Finishes are not determined yet, but polished chrome will certainly be one of them
3) The door is manufactured from billet aluminum.
4) Price is not determined yet, but will be competitive.
5)Again, we designed the door to OEM specs; hence the Hummer Logo. It is not certain if this will be in the production unit.
The door pictured is a stereo lithography prototype out of ABS plastic...not the real billet version.
I have attached an actual version of the first actual unit with an anodized satin finish.
Again, I stated in the first post that I am not accusing anyone of doing anything dishonest...I was just very curious how I could receive 30 emails in one day regarding our H2 fuel door when we had not made anything public yet.
I will keep forum members posted on which distribution channels the Fuel door will through.
Thank you again and Best Regards,

I think I remember seeing a gas cap cover plate that said Hummer on it somewhere on the board. I did a search and could not find anything. I asked my dealer and he said it does not exist. Can anyone help me out. Where can I get it.

Thanks Hummer Man. I thought I was going nuts. I knew I had seen it on the board. How does it mount? Is it the same as the other brands? It would appear to be a brushed aluminum?

The gas cap cover with HUMMER mechined in, shown on this board previously, is on my H2. It was produced by AMP Research in Irvine to pitch to GM for H2 OEM. The AMP "fuel door" will be available through SMA soon. It will have the look of the stock wheel, but will not have HUMMER on it. AMP can't violate the copyright until they receive permission from GM. SO I HAVE THE ONLY ONE!!!! NANNA NANNA NANNA! All I had to do was let AMP use my truck to finalize some prototype work.
