Default H2 part swap? school me please

Hello everyone,

Ive been reading up and just decided i would ask,

Im looking at 2006 H2, Not sure what package, but the dash shows what looks like a locker switch ( left beside navi) and up arrow on the bottom of the dash in front of the gear shift.

from what i can tell a lot of stuff from a 2500 gm will interchange in the front end, but what about the rear end?

Reason i ask is i have 01 2500 suburban , with 4:88 gears, E locker in the front, new hubs, new A arms, and every thing upgraded. i would want to swap over to the H2, if it will work..

As for the rear end i have leaf springs or course, and every H2, ive seen is coil or air bags... I know the H2, is a 14 bolt and 8 lug but what is the size, mine is a 10.5" that was rebuilt a year ago will 4:88s and Detroit, Is it possible to just swap the guts and go? or does anyone make a shackle mount to make it leaf sprung?

Body / bumpers, what is the frame width difference in a 2500 and H2, i read a few placed the H2 is based off a 2500 in the front but 1500 rear.. I currently have front and rear steel winch bumpers. Yes i know the body style design is wrong but i have a saw, so really only interested in if hey would "bolt" up...

also what transfer case is in the H2, and how strong is it? I have the auto trac, which has been upgraded / rebuilt with a lot better clutches, however its bolted to a 4L80E, and from what i understand the H2 runs the 4L60E?

thanks for the info!

Hello...

The factory transfer case shift control is what's next to the radio. Top button rear locker, then 4HI, 4HI LOCK, and finally 4LO LOCK. If you're seeing another "locker" button near the gear shift someone probably put a front locker on the truck. EDIT: If the button is all the way at the bottom directly below the tow/haul button and to the left of the AC and OnStar, you may be looking at the rear air ride height adjustment switch...I think it has a picture of a truck with an up/down arrow near the rear. Those three buttons are TC2, Tow/Haul, and Height Adjustment (if equipped...if not the bottom spot has a blank).

Regarding what parts will cross between your '01 Burban an '06 H2, I think you'll run across a few. This would be a good starting point: http://www.wholesalegmpartsonline.com/

You can look up a particular part in the GM inventory and at the bottom of the part's page you'll see "Product Fitment/Applications." If you expand that you will get a list of all the other GM vehicles that the part works with.

For instance, if you look up the Upper Control Arm (PN 25905442) used on the H2, the page shows that the same arm was used on 261 other vehicles (including the 1999-2014 Suburbans); but the lower control arm (PN 20832025) is unique to H2s. This site should help you answer some of your questions.

As far as frame dimensions go...I don't know off hand; but here's some images that might assist until you get some exact measurements.
