Yeah, I really like that one, but it wasn't quite what I wanted and the price was so high you'd think it was made by Gobi! I wanted a slightly more square and angled look - and a little more "beef." When some friends who do metal work for the studios offered to custom build one, I couldn't pass it up!

Your rig looks outstanding! But why is it the wrong color???

Can't wait to see your new brushguard, Sean. I need new ideas ... my truck seems maxed out on things to weld/screw/rivet/bolt to the outside.

I've been thinking about an SUT bed rack rumble seat for the kids. Little leather helmets and goggles, no worries 'bout puke.

Since the traditional is not included in that question, I'll assume it's serious. I'm happy to order some for you and bring them on the 11th. You can carry your owned danged cans, though, bucko.

Geocaching is ghey, especially when you have a GPS. Doesn't that defeat the purpose? Where's the challenge? If you want to collect crap hidden by other people, there's a much more productive way to do it: antique [aka junk] stores and estate sales

I have to admit for some new gear, I'd play along and use all the technology at my disposal

For the record, I will be bringing numerous straps and misc recovery gear, as well as my truck does have a winch and of course a cb.

I will also bring a chainsaw and shovels, and a couple spair tires, as well as a good bit of tools.

And if I know you, enough EMT equipment for a small regiment.

Sean, will you guys be bringing any extra gas?

I don't think so. But we may bring some Mexican food and then anything is possible.

Any idea if I will be the only h1?

I think so. You are the only H1er I know that can keep up with us H2's.

A suggestion, make sure everyone who is comming has a CB, if they dont, make them go buy one, even if its just a hand held its still very vital.

I'll bring a couple of FRMS radios for the communicationally challenged.

CB ch. 17 would be best...

Thanks Rodster, for the price I think I'l get the permanent install. I found a good price on it the one you recommended from radio shack a block away from my office here. What do you guys do - run the twin external antennas?

Cringing at the thought of running another wire down the column after running wires for the OR lights.

Man, that Cobra Rodster mentioned IS popular! That's what I'm using too. Haven't got around to the permanent install yet, since my temp fix works so damn well! I got a screw-on cig lighter adapter and use that at the end of the Cobra power leads. I plug it into the rear of the center console, put the unit under the driver's seat, and run the antenna wire up through the rear grab handle behind the driver's side headrest and out the top to the rack mounted antenna. Close the door on it and your good to go! The mic cord then runs between the center console and the driver's seat so the mic can sit on the top of the console. It works as well as a permanent install - and I just unplug it all and take it out when I'm not using it.

The Cobra 75WXST is outstanding. If I took the time to properly ground the antenna and tune the damn thing it'd be even better!

Sean

Excellent point and I like the way you think. Over-prepared is a good thing but I do have a tendency to go overboard. After loading spare parts, recovery gear, fluids and tools, I don't have much room left for personal items.

I would assume that if you're stuck in the desert sand, there is no place to winch onto, no? You have 15 rigs so you would just strap each other out.
