QUOTE]That would explain the manufacturers name change for the 04's. Although it is hardly made of 100% GM parts, I doubt many vehicles are assembled with 100% parts from the manufacturer.[/quote]

Please be aware the H2 is one of those few vehicles that are.

ALL parts in & on the H2 are 100% GM purchased parts! NONE ...as in ZERO... H2 parts come from AM General. The H2 is 100% GM content and of course that does not necessarily make it good ...or make it bad ...it just makes it the way it is!

I believe the quote was "Although it is hardly made of 100% GM parts, I doubt many vehicles are assembled with 100% parts from the manufacturer." As in the AAM rear end, Borg-Warn T-case, Hitachi throttle body, Eaton locker, Bosch ABS/TCS, Bose Radio, etc etc. You get the idea.

At least "my inference" was and still is that 100% of the H2's content is GM purchased/procured material...pure & simple. GM not only outsourced many component parts, but the "assembly" of their H2 as well...pure and simple.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content"> The biased slant is quite clear. It would be like saying the H1 is assembled from a hotch potch collection of GM & Ford parts with some parts from AMG </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Well let's not kid ourselves about the H1 either. It IS a "hotch potch collection" as you put it, of commercially available components with some uniquely AMG parts thrown in! So where’s the "beef?" ...or as you say; "biased slant?"

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content"> Like it not my friend H2's are made by AMG, doesn't matter who sources the parts </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Any whoooo, have it your way. Some will only believe what they want to believe, while some of us that were there from the beginning of the H2 program do know there is a VERY BIG difference between "assembled" by AMG for GM and "made" by AMG for GM.

Stuff "assembled by" is hugely more reliable than stuff "made by." Oh, or have you never met an H1 owner or talked to a HMMWV mechanic?

Don't try to play semantics here. Do you think you are the first to come here in 3 years to tell us what we are supposed to believe?

I have no illusions about the short comings of the H2, likewise for the H1. I like both vehicles, but for different reasons.

To infer that the H2 is built by GM is factually incorrect. It is built by AMG. I don't suppose for one minute this makes the slightest bit of difference, but it is the case. You can of course play the Clintonesque game of depends how define "built", but that doesn't change anything. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

PhilD/Hummer Guru...PLEASE use quotes (as in the above example) so we can tell who your barbs are being flicked at. Thanks in advance.

Phil's right. Some of us have owned both.

Glad we could help out all of you that were there before, during, and after the H2 program.

We, being the people that know, knew exactly who Phil was addressing and it wasn't me. Asking for quotes was really unnecessary given the flow of this thread. Of course, if you had been around here since the beginning of this forum you would KNOW the difference.

OK, OK, PhilD/Hummer Guru, I humbly offer my apology IF you misunderstood or somehow misinterpreted something in my initial statement to mean "the H2 isn't a real Hummer." How in the world could any of us newbies have possibly known that you have actually owned both a HUMMER H1 AND a HUMMER H2??? WOW...I'm impressed!!!

HUMTECH is an unknown quantity at this point

Apoligies, yes the h-2 is assembled by AMG, but designed, marketed, and sold by GM. Simply put gm farmed out assembly as part of A deal to accuire the HUMMER brand name. H-1 was designed, marketed and assembled by AMG making the H-1 the only hummer exclusivly AMG built. By no means do I think the H-2 is not A real Hummer, they both have their place in the off road world, either one could out perform the other in given terrain. Furthermore I don't own any type of hummer just work on all 3 on A daily basis. Sorry for any confusion. Sometimes A guy can get A little bitter when working on these trucks day in and day out with what both AMG and GM pay A tech doing warranty work.
