Re: Just Installed My Re-Programmed PCM
hey guys, can someone explain the shift firmness option to me. dont really know which i should go with. how is it gona be if i go with option other than stock. This is my daily driver, and i do use it for offroading too. This is the only thing keeping me from ordering rite now, just donno the what increased firmness means (regarding the transmision, not bewbies).
oh and also would changing firmness have any effect ont eh transmisions life?
I'd really appreciate a fast response, I would like to get this shipped out asap so i can get it by the end of the week. Thanks.

Re: Just Installed My Re-Programmed PCM
More firm means a harder, quicker shift, which gives you more power. Will it hurt the tranny over time, probably, but I doubt you would really notice the negative effect.

Not yet. I just got my loaner yesterday and will be installing it this weekend. Hopefully I'll have my reprogrammed pcm back by next weekend.

Re: Just Installed My Re-Programmed PCM
Swapped in the loaner pcm today. Very easy, 5 minutes tops. Did the security thing and it started right up. I'll send out my pcm tomorrow and hope to have it back by the weekend!

Re: Just Installed My Re-Programmed PCM
swapped mine on thursday and didnt really notice any gain in mpg or performance. well actually, it felt more like pre-35s. i didnt really get used to the way the 3 performed with 35s (without pcmforless, cauze i put the tires on 2 days before that) so im basically comparing the results to before i got the 35s put on. Im happy with it, no gain no loss.
6pack let us know how yours goes

Re: Just Installed My Re-Programmed PCM
So if you are running 35 toyos does the shifting so much up and down by it self stop and shift more like it did before i put the 35 tires on it ? and does the gas mpg i lost from going to 35 tires go back to more mpg like it was ?

Re: Just Installed My Re-Programmed PCM
From all of the good stuff I'm reading, I want to do one myself. I only plan to go to 33's from my 32's and would prefer the softer shifting as this is my DD/work truck. The shifting down on every hill really bugs me, so this would be the reason (+ more power) why I want to do it. Is a drop in a/f worth doing over stock, or do I have to do a CAI to get any results?

from what i have noticed it seems to shift like it did without the 35s. still if you step on it a lilttle more it will downshift. if going up a moderately steep hill and you wana keep speed it will downshift.
suposedly your mpg should go up, i couldnt tell because i didnt get a mpg reading with the 35 without the pcm. but the numbers im getting now are comparable to before i got 35s, maybe .5 to 1 mpg less, maximum.
