Nice going, Steverino!!! And you wonder why the tacos don't show up?
Grocery-getters? Sure, if the store's at the top of a nasty f*cking hill!!!

Steve, we just got back from the OH HH.
I picked up a spare set of 35x12.5-16.5 General MT.
When I put them on I gave the front end 2 turns on the torsion bars.
I noticed a lot of improvement over the AT on the muddy hill climbs and the twisting pits.
I could see the difference in height when we were all parked side by side.
I think this will give a little more articulation too.

Awesome, Steve!
What's most impressive is that you did that with a bone-stock truck. Especially extra impressive that you did it with the stock BFG 35" All Terrains.
Also, consider, /after/ the trail when all you folks do use your trucks to get groceries, guess which is the nicest to get groceries in? The HUMMER!

Way to go Steve!!! I wish I could have seen the faces on the.....you know those other guys at the bottom of the hill.
I kept thinking you we're going the end the story with, " I must have dozed off, How long was I out". Great ending. I love it!!

Steve,
Your charge up the hill was truely awesome. If I hear about a video of it I'll do my best to capture it and forward to you!
BTW, here's my run up the same hill on June 7th. My V8 1993 110's long wheelbase helped, and remember I'm running open front & rear diffs! ;-)

PS: Marsha loved her ride in your rig -- you definitely had the comfort factor down.
PPS: Basically, Defenders, Hummmers, Disco's, Jeeps are all different trucks and they all have their strengths and weaknesses. It's a shame the rivalry gets a little ugly sometimes, and for that I apologize for the Rover community. If I had to run from San Diego to Costa Rica (something I want to do someday) I think I'd pick a diesel 110 over any of 'em -- but that truck is sadly not available in the U.S.
Then there's Carrie (forget her last name), owner of a highly modified D-90 rock crawler that routinely wins big rock competitions in places like Johnson Valley here in CA. These super-agressive Land Rover owners rarely turn out for trip events -- always perferring to invest their time in organized competitions where the modified Jeeps, custom rods and Defenders square off.
But you, my friend, will always remain King of the HILL!! It was a great to have you along Sunday! Hope I can join you on a Hummer expedition one day.
Best,
Doug Walker

Steve,
That is a great story, I too was expecting "...and then I woke up ..." ending. Don't know if you could have dreamt it better.
Doug,
WELCOME ABOARD - always good to have the "good Disco owers" around.

See, we can all j-j-just g-g-g-get along.
It's just the uninformed and ignorant that look upon the H2 with disdain and call it a Tahoe. If they'd read the entire article about the frame of the H2 maybe they'd understand why it was configured the way it is. Oh well, we can always explain it to them as we go by and they're stuck.
Welcome Doug. Good to have you on board.

Doug,
Congratulations on being the professional dude I thought Rover owners to be! I have talked with Steve extensively about getting more rover folk on our outings. We seem to get along quite well and seeing the strengths and weaknesses of each vehicle is a worthy discussion over lunch at the end of a good run!
So, are any of you guys coming to the White Mountain run? It's a fantastic run with diverse terrain and some good challenges. Hope to see you there.

Hey Doug...
First you have H2's coming to your events...now your slumming on an H2 forum...what's next???? Before you know it, you'll be hanging with Jeepers and competing for how far you can spit chewing tobacco!
It was fun having your wife aboard the H2. At first I was thinking of using her to blackmail you for a case of drinks (for her return)....but not long into the trail she started complaining about when lunch was, how much further, why do we have to stop for the slow-movers.......that's when it dawned on me that perhaps I'd be offering you the case of drinks.... Nah...she was great!! (and displayed excellent taste in vehicle preference ).
What surprised me was actually how shocked your group was about the H2...they honestly couldn't conceive of its offroad abilities. I suppose I'm just used to it....I myself was a bit skeptical before buying the H2...but it continues to impress me, hardcore H1er's and even outside-brand owners alike.
I really liked your group...some great people there....a great time was had by all...some more then others...

Just keeping my options open. I might get excommunicated from www.d-90.com and www.discoweb.com for inviting you along! ;-)
I like Jeepers -- wouldn't miss the Corva Poker Run every year. It's Beyond Thunderdome.
See ya on the trails,
Doug

Doug,
Your link to www.discoweb.com doesn't take you to a website that's at all related to Disco's.
