As for the firmware I didn't have the older version disc when I bought the truck to compare. On the Chevy & GM forums they say the maps are easier to read and it's faster. It did do the firmware update the first time I used it.

A friend of mine put a copied NAV disc in his HUMMER and the disc used the ONSTAR to call FBI and it also gave the FEDS his VIN#,Satellite GPS location and it said on his NAV screen "Duplicates are Illegal, you have just broken the Law.
