Re: Boulder bumper and MM winch
I sold my Warn multimount in preperation for the new BA winch bumper. I am now kicking myself after seeing the quality of the MM winch construction compared to the Warn I got rid of. I am also losing the ability to winch from the rear.
When you get stuck with no other vehicles around, winching from the rear will be needed about 50% of the time. I plan on rigging up something to allow me to winch from the rear using my front winch bumper. I am thinking to have roller fairlead up front and some standard fairleads underneath and flush mounted from front to rear.

Boy, after reading that, I think I'm just going to stick with my Warn 9.5ti multimount. I've also needed my winch in the rear to get out of a bad situation a couple of times (I think 50% of the time is more than I've seen in my experience), that ability made me real happy on those occasions.
I've been agonizing for a couple of weeks whether or not to score one of those autostrata ebay Boulder winch bumpers, but I guess I'm going to pass. I'm thinking of putting those dollars into the Rubber Duck under body protection instead.

You guys get in bad situations too much. Plan your crossing or climb so that there is a tree to winch from. May have to go around a hole sometimes because your alone and have no idea where the bottom is..
I'll go with yall and pull you out if needed

Re: Boulder bumper and MM winch
Doc,
I kinda gotta agree with you on that. lol. I remember talking to my dad last year about wanting a winch before I got mine. He said "Why do you need a winch?" I told him so I can go more places etc....
His response...
"If you need a winch to get out of whatever you are doing while driving that
H2, you probubly should not have been there in the first place"
I took it as a compliment to the truck and word of wisdome lol.
But I bought the Winch anyway!! lol

Re: Boulder bumper and MM winch
Dude that is CRAZY!!!! I am terribly sorry for that loss. But look on the bright side. You have 2 things in common with your neighbor.
1. You both lost it all
2. You both still have your HUMMERS! lol

Re: Boulder bumper and MM winch
For normal winching, ie stuck once or twice in a day with 20-30 minutes winching, with the motor running the stock system is enough.

It's best to have dual batteries with Battery Isolater or an upgraded alternator. The H2 has a pretty stout alternator to begin with. Rule of thumb is always leave engine running and if you dont have either of those, you should winch for a bit and stop so alternator can rechanrge battery. If not, there is a chance you can overload alternator and burn it up or kill battery or both.
I think Summitup is ahead of the game with dual batteries. I just take the cautious approach and winch slow, pause and winch again.
