Re: New here.... buying advice for 03 H2
Thanks ....
Is there two different motor sizes, or one motor for all years?
I'm looking at spending 20-25k...... year is no matter, unless I"m missing something.

I think the motor was basically the same until 2008 & 2009 when it got bigger, with more horse/torque, a fairly noticeable improvement...

Thanks... I won't be going for something that new at this point. Economy, and the fact that I want to see how much I really will like this thing will hold me back to the older models..
How many miles are these things going anyways?

Engine is a GM truck so compare to any other GM motor. Here is a cool video essay!

Not sure.... I won't be buying that new of one. I have however been looking forward to being able to use regular vs. premium that I have to use in my current car.
Figured it would offset the cost of gas a little bit....

Re: New here.... buying advice for 03 H2
Although I dont believe the 08 and 09's "require" premium fuel, they sure run like crap without it! Both my 08 and 09 didnt like regular fuel and really performed well with the premium. Sure its an added expense but we all know when we buy a hummer that its not designed to be fuel efficient.

Re: New here.... buying advice for 03 H2
The 08 engine runs on regular and it won't void your warranty or cause damage because of the engine computer controls, but it idles rougher with regular (just watch the tach bounce around), and the 6 speed will shift A LOT more on hilly terrain or doing any towing running on regular. To be honest, I haven't noticed much of a difference in mileage running regular vs. premium, but premium is "recommended" not required. I talked with an '09 owner at Lynch's Hummer outing this year and he said he didn't notice any difference using E85 ethanol or premium except for the mileage, but notices a "roughness" with regular.

Re: New here.... buying advice for 03 H2
Still doing research!
Is the self leveling suspension part of a package, like adventure package? What about air suspension? Part of a package or separate option?
Parking sensors? Same thing... part of a package? or??
Back up cam... if there is NAV, will it have a back up cam??

Re: New here.... buying advice for 03 H2
I wouldn't buy or not buy a vehicle because it didn't have a backup cam.... but that's just me. I'd get a good deal on the price first, then add or remove.
Anyways, good luck.

Re: New here.... buying advice for 03 H2
The air suspension is the self leveling suspension and is simply airbags that raise and lower the rear based on weight. I have it but it wouldn't really matter if I found a clean , low mileage truck. It was part of the adventure package but may have been added to any truck, I am not sure. The 03 did not come with the option of Navigation, rear cam , or parking sensors. All of that could be added of course by the owner, but none of that is important to me it is all about being unique. The H2 is kinda of a cross of luxury and ruggedness and each owner customizes to suit themselves. Other than my gas door I have added nothing to mine

Re: New here.... buying advice for 03 H2
Thanks.
It's not that I plan on buying only if there is a cam, or parking sensors, or whatever else.. yes I have my must have list BUT...
The main reason for the questino is because most of the adds I look at are dealer adds, most of them not Hummer dealer, and I will sometimes see an add then go luck at the truck only to find out it has features not advertised or just the opposite.
Some of these dealers/salesman seem like they have no clue what so ever on what the vehicle has.
The plan has changed also... I will not look at an 03 and am really looking for a 2006.
