"Cranking the torsion bars" increases the spring rate and spring load. Only adding more weight to the whole truck will "push them and the wheels" down, dummy. And, all else things remaining the same, it's the only way to create extra force "crunked" or not.
Of course, you seem to think that comparing the front suspension to the bending of one's elbow is an accurate representation.
