I've got a buddy running some sort of a chip or programmer on his Dodge diesel pick up and in the manual it advised him not to run it on certain settings as it would fry the tranny. Is it possible that you have your programmer/chip "cranked up" too much and its blowing them?

I dont know much about the chips or programmers but recalled this warning when reading some of the posts on here.

There are people here who have put their rigs under allot more strain and stress still on original tranny. I have driven GM trucks and cars for 25 years or more with either me, kids, or wife driving something GM. I honestly can say have never had a ride that did not last as long as we wanted it to. My 99 Silverado has almost 190,000 miles and it is not stock from day one. It will out run most average trucks or cars. It uses about 1/2 pint of oil in a 3000 to 4000 mile oil change. I drive it hard just like I did from the day i got it. It has air kit, tuning, and other stuff to make it run great. It run 10W30 Penn and is due a tranny fluyid change as well as rear-end grease. I have not run anything but ordinary fluids and that is because I believe in running what the rig has had in it if it is 30,000 miles or more. Basicaily whatevre it was broken in running and then stayed on that fluids.

I hope it all works out good for you Buddy. I would make it till you can buy new model diesel. although just going ahead and having the diesel conversion done now and drive it for a long time if the rig is setup like you want it.

TAZ

I have to a agree with Taz....been driving GM's for....let me do the math here....43-16=27....ok....27 years....and never once had a tranny issue with any of them. The only thing i've ever done to mod the power train was in my 77 GMC Jimmy and that was just headers and exhaust. All the other vehicles have been bone stock. I've never done the chip or programmer.

so its been 28 days and I just got back the rig with a brand new trans in it. Hummer corp would not aprove a new trans...dealer ordered parts and after assembly - NO REVERSE. new trans ordered and off to the races.

$2220 rent a car bill - Hummer would not take care of a dime.

look out hummer - here comes the lawyers

I'm new to this site. But my 03 H2 just produced "Pepto bismal" for the SECOND time in two years. The first time @ 80000 miles and now @ 110000.
First time had an authorized GM Goodwrench repair shop replace the trans cooler inside the radiator, flush, and so forth. Then 2500 miles later, tranny starts slipping so I get one from the Hummer dealership w/ 3yr/100000 warranty. Now @ 110000 IT DID IT AGAIN.

ANY SUGGESTIONS? I Love my H2.
