Re: THE OFFICIAL HUMMER AND BABE PICTURE THREAD! (no nudity please)
All of your links are old news...
What do you think thrust the H2 into this spot light? While similar MPG'ed consumer vehicles were left alone? Attention. What draws attention? Flamboyance.
Negative attention = reduced sales...the majority of consumers are programmable sheep. If someone says it's 'bad' then it must be 'bad.'

So a blacked out jacked up hummer isn't flamboyant? And doesn't draw attention? Or a bright red or bright yellow jacked up hummer?

Maybe...maybe not...but at least the "jacked up" aspect adds to the vehicle's intended characteristics and doesn't diminish them.
Let's just agree that we both think each other is an ignorant a55hole and drop this back and forth...
XOXO

Speaking of flamboyant, I've never seen gold bling on an H2 before! Hate to say it, I kinda like it!
This one is for guruerror as I know how much he likes the chrome!

People see only what they want to see..IGNORANCE. Step outside the box and do your homework. Plain and simple, if you drive a gas burning vehicle, you are NO better to the environment than the next guy. That's exactly how I look at it, if you can afford the gas (as pricey as it is now) then it's all the same. It's JUST preference on what you choose to drive.

Re: THE OFFICIAL HUMMER AND BABE PICTURE THREAD! (no nudity please)
h2fu doesn't care about the facts thats why they went after the smallest segmt of vehicles sold to complain about.....they aren't going to chase after the rest that do equally as bad on mpg,etc...the earnhart jr.commerical that shows him going fm atv to boats to prevost to race track, not to mention jet fuel.....practice laps,testing,etc... i'd like to see a breakdown on those costs...until those sob's want to pickup my tab at the pump.....i digress...

Possibly add the Chevy Volt & Fisker Karma to this too... Can't really blame the gas mileage in this case...

WOW! Those are some fine specimens of 'chromology' that you've posted. The point I keep trying to make...and will put forth one final time (and I'll type slowly so it's easier to grasp)...the SUVs in your post above were designed to be 'street vehicles;' doing that type of customizing to those (while still silly IMO) is not completely contrary to the vehicles design and purpose.
The H2, while still a consumer vehicle, was designed with off-roading in mind, so the same type of customization is VERY contrary to the vehicles design and purpose; thereby making it more noticeable and ostentatious. It becomes an "I can do this just because I can" kind of thing...which draws negative attention. And couple that with the fact that famous people were pushing these blinged vehicles (rappers, movie stars, athletes, etc.) makes it seem even more ostentatious...a symbol of 'excess'...a perfect target for a green-peace crusade.
OLIVE BRANCH: I'll concede that Bling alone did not kill the Hummer...but he was in the posse that brought the big boy down.

...I kinda put that in the same boat; mainly because of how they lowered it. What good will that be on the trail?
...but at least you can't see it from SPACE. LOL.

Re: The 'customization' thread
Trail or no trail, it looks like a practical street hummer. Keep in mind that probably 75% of h2 owners have never taken their car off road. I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm one of those guys. I didn't buy mine to go off road. I bought it because it looked bad ass and it was huge. That being said I'd rock the $hit out of that hummer and have no shame in it.

Re: The 'customization' thread
I drive them off-road for a living. They can go places that very few other vehicles can go. Believe it or not, it really was designed to go other places than just the mall.

Re: The 'customization' thread
Oh I believe it. I don't think I've made any fight about the capability of a hummer. I just don't use mine for that use.

so anyone customizing a h2 should ONLY do it, IF their customizing it to use it offload? And only make customizations to it to benefit it in the unlikely event that the will take it off road? Just because it was made to be a street able offloading truck..... But I think you have it backwards. The bummer is an offloading truck made for the street.

That seems to be where we differ...I bought mine because of it's capability. I wanted a full-size, recreational off-roader, the fact that it 'looked bad ass' and whatnot were secondary pluses. That's why some mods make sense to me and others seem completely ridiculous.
I'm a 'right tool for the job' kinda of guy...if I wanna drive a nail, I use a hammer; if I wanna screw a screw I use a screw driver. Sure I could drive the screw with the hammer...but why? That's not what it's for. I see Hummers as off-roaders, to keep them on the street 100% just seems like the wrong tool for the job. Don't get me wrong...it's got 4 wheels and it will roll over pavement just fine, but still the wrong too for the job in my book.

No...they should do what they want; like you said before, "It's theirs." It's just doesn't make sense to me to customize it any other way...maybe I'm muddling the term 'customize' with 'enhance.'
