Thanks, I have been working with our banged up troops for a number of years now and have never enjoyed anything anymore.

The photo above is from a recent deer hunt in WV, Steve on the right is an Iraqi Vet from Alaska. He was shot up pretty bad in Iraq and barely has any use of his right leg, he chose not to have it amputated, he was given the Purple heart and has been submitted for the Medal of Honor. I flew him down from Alaska to go on his first deer hunt back in November. L-R Congressman Alan Mollohan, Doug, Steve Sanford. We do this hunt every year and we do our best to bring out 3-4 of our injured Vets.

I spend a fair amount of time in the DC area, usually over your way every 6-8 weeks for a week or so.

If any of you guys like to hunt or fish or even a local hummer ride and have room try and get a few guys out of the hospital for a fun day, they eat it up!

Doug

If you are located in a state that has no military bases and large numbers of deployed National Gaurdsman such as PA, Idaho, Montana, there is a better recommendation. Each state has a family service coordinator whose job is to support those familys of deployed soldiers. I would look upi each states TAG (The General of each states Gaurd unit) and contact his aid to see if they could proovide a number. I have a friend who helps with a program called "operation troop appreciation" (it is on the web if you google it, I will try to get her to give me more info for it to post here) who takes donations and sends them over seas. They have sent a ton of stuff to the soldiers and might even be willing to send who ever had a collection of stuff magazines for you. The magazine idea is a great idea cause decent reading material is in short supply so car , truck and motorcycle mags are always popular for the news and short articles you can read in between rocket attacks .

There are also a ton of wounded guys who came back, young with family who have lost legs or arms or worse. One of my NCOs I admired most in the world and a good friend was wounded by a sniper while in Iraq and I would ask that every one who wants to see a defintion of a hero read his story on this web site his wife does to describe the whole situation.

His wife and daughter are my heros.

If anyone from Florida or anywhere else are interested,

In January we are flying appx 18 of our wounded Vets from Walter Reed to Islamorada, Fl to join us in a sailfish tournament with the Outdoor Channel. If anyone else might be interested in having a great time with great people for 2 days of great fishing please let me know and I can give you the details.

I know there wasn't enough time to get things rolling, but I honestly feel that our troops and even law enforcement need our support. Now-a-days there seems to be such a lack of respect for these people putting it all on the line for us.
So on a personal note, I thank each and everyone of you who will do something for your hometown hero's.
Cheers!
