The "brow" over the plate was originally chrome. I scuffed it up with fine grit sandpaper and spray-painted it with 5 coats of black Performix PlastiDip.

Rodster had done the same to his, and he provided me with the instrustions. He got his PlastiDip at Home Depot, I got mine at Lowes (my HD doesn't carry it).
The brow itself is easy to remove from the entire plate/light assembly via removal of three small clips on the backside using needle-nose pliers.
