The door you see is locking...but not visible to the untrained eye . However, we have not done enough market research if we should add a locking mechanism or not. From looking at various posts last night, it seems most people prefer locking. However, the cost is increased...
Unfortunately, I will not have anymore time today to post or reply to inquries.
Thanx again to everyone for their questions/ feedback...my email is going to explode soon!

I would want my gas cap cover to lock, and to be black.
Snap-in design? Hmmm... may not be very secure.

Klaus, I too agree! Black for those of us that are not into the Billet look. Maybe Harry could add this to their production...shouldn't be too hard to do. Put me on the list for a black one that locks!

I remember I came across their site because they were mentioned in the last MotorTrend SUV edition magazine.
http://www.amp-research.com/store/fueldoor.htm
Somebody shaved off a good chunk of that market already with a first to market product. I bought one and I think I overpayed for the quality I got. Scary that there internal prototype picture made it out to the Internet.
The only way they can catch up now is by producing a better product.

o.k...I know I said I didn't have time to post anymore but...
I appreciate all feedback from real life H2 owners; it will all find it's way into production. Also, the concern regarding the snap in design was not explained by me thouroughly enough: As you know, the stock fuel cup "snaps and twists in" as well, then is secured by the 3 bolts to the fuel funnel. Our design is identical, however, we had to redesign the cup to prfectly fit with our door so no modifications would be necessary.
Thanx again for all the feedback!
Regards,

Harry-
Please consider a lock as at least an option. In November and December, one of the longest threads and oft-discussed topics was which locking gas cap fit the H2. With all of the whackos out there, many of us felt unsafe without one. A good portion of us ran out and got them (do a search for Stant and you'll see what I mean!). We (Peter and I) wouldn't consider a cover unless it was locking.
I like the idea of black as well. Thanks for stopping by . . .

Harry,
Please make these doors in BLACK and LOCKING. It was mentioned before about all the nuts out there, but think of it this way...it might save a life if one of these freaks try to pour something in my gas tank .
I also want to clean up the look of the gas filler area, but will not put more chrome on the truck. In fact I bought all the black adventure series parts to switch out my chrome pieces.
Thanks,
ROB

Well said folks -here's another vote here for locking first and most importantly, and black too. As Brooklyn said, I won't get one that doesn't lock.

Harry Leitner and I had a wonderful phone conversation today. Please refer to his post for all specifications and availability time frames. Where ever any of the information I provided is in conflict with his please except his as having the correct facts since he is the manufacturer. In closing I can tell you this is the finest fuel door cover that will be made for the H2 - from a looks, operation, installation and value Harry has hit a homerun!
Hats off to his company for taking the time to listen to H2 owners!
Regards, Hummer Man

I don't quite understand something here. If Harry says he is the only legit gas door maker with lots of patents, but they only have a plastic mock up and not yet start the production yet, how come we all have seen so many very similar Gas doors sold by so many different vendors on eBay and on other websites for many months already?

The gas cap cover with HUMMER mechined in, shown on this board previously, is on my H2. It was produced by AMP Research in Irvine to pitch to GM for H2 OEM. The AMP "fuel door" will be available through SMA soon. It will have the look of the stock wheel, but will not have HUMMER on it. AMP can't violate the copyright until they receive permission from GM. SO I HAVE THE ONLY ONE!!!! NANNA NANNA NANNA! All I had to do was let AMP use my truck to finalize some prototype work.

Hey Harry,
your fuel door is certainly making the rounds. Are you going to sell direct now? Is your Marketing guy selling these on the side?
What's going on?
