Lean Machine is off the scale
Default Re: Battery died....

My battery died on me last week and left me stranded in a parking garage downtown. I called 1-866 Hummer 6 for roadside and my battery was replaced under warranty. Do I need to have the dealership run more diagnostic test to determine why the battery died in the first place or just accept the fact the batteries are a POS and move on.

In that case you should try changing the air filter also. By one from K&N and you can expect at least another 40 or 50 rwhp!

well, roadside service came by and they replaced the battery. It held a bit of volts, 8 or so, but the battey was not hold at all...

so we replaced it and it cranked up fine... we'll see where we at in the future with this battery stuff.

Origanally, i traded my 05 cts-v and that had cronic battery problems... oh well, this one should hold be i will monitor it...

laterZ!

Deep cycle (yellow top) is designed to be discharged repeatedly with no damage to the battery. They will be heavier due to the increased size of the lead used in the plates.
A deep cycle battery is designed for vehicles with a lot of accessories that will cause drain such as winches, large stereos, tons of off-road lighting, etc. Deep cycle batteries the same size as a regular battery do not have as high of CCA. Therefore, it is suggested to go to a larger deep cycle battery.

The yellow top Optima D75/25 has 650 CCA, while the 75/25 red top has 720 CCA. If you are in a cold climate, the CCA can be important. In addition, cranking amps at 32 degrees F is 100 amps more for the red top versus the yellow top.
