Re: Which Bumper Winch is the Best
H2 Bully, don't forget to check into Mile Marker winches. I have a Warn simply because I got it from someone that didn't need it anymore.
And, why hasn't anyone mentioned the hydraulic winch? Aren't they supposed to run if the car won't start, or has stalled? (I realize this wouldn't be a usual issue with a brand new H2, but I thought I'd bring it up.)

Thank you, I was just looking at the Mile Marker website. Looks like the hydraulic would run under water. And the 9000 lb hydraulic is 93 lbs shipped. The 12000 lb winch is a whole 98 lbs. That's heavy, but if it's in the bumper she wouldn't ever have to lift it.

Re: Which Bumper Winch is the Best
Does T-Max make a multi mount winch that will fit our trucks? I saw Lotus4's t-max at tellico and it was sweet. All I've herad is good things about these.

Re: Which Bumper Winch is the Best
I am runing the Warn 9.5TI Multi Mount, I like the fact that I can winch from the front or back. And when not in use I store the Winch in the back of the Hummer were the Third Seat was.

Not sure i'd say it is overkill. You shouldn't shock load a winch line, but it will happen from time to time and the extra strength of a 3/8" line may be important in those instances.
Not sure about that, but I know people use 3/8" x 100' with the 9.5XP, I'm pretty certain that's what Paragon's got on his also.
I'd personally go for 3/8" line, but it is definitely not necessary and 5/16" will do the job.
|
Yeppers, I have 100' of 3/8" spooled up and also have a 50' extension.
I had no considerations of doing anything less than 3/8" and I run the Masterpull line which is rated at 23.5K lbs. You would have to get the 7/16" in Amsteel to get the same kind of weight rating.
Also, Masterpull and Trail Duty stood behind their line (not saying no other mftrs do) when I had a failure during Hurricane Katrina.

What was the failure? Did you try to pull something that was 23. 6K lbs?
