Re: Traded in my 3, thought you would want to read this...
Interesting take on things there.. The little episode you described your wife having with the goob in the Subaru would have been charged with terroristic threatening and insiting road rage around here.. He would have been locked away for a day or so at least, his vehicle siezed and his drivers license suspended for a year or so..
You forgot to mention how he chased her down and tried to run her off the road. I personally witnessed that BTW..

Re: Traded in my 3, thought you would want to read this...
i spent some time i Durango, a few weeks back, you can feel the stares driving down main street, people will be people and will get theres for their descions that affect others, but look at it this way, in their eyes its a small victory in their sad lifes, and another thing they always hate and run, or drive off or in the cover of darkness, rareley do you get face to face hate, well if i do i might need you all to send me a care package in the county lock-up if some poor soul vandalizes my baby...or theartens my wife when shes in the 3..not to steal a time honored quote from the americas, but our colors will never run, yellow, slate , black, grey, red, green, and all the other colors that h3's come in

Re: Traded in my 3, thought you would want to read this...
And speaking as a self proclaimed hippy, I am so sorry the JACK ASSES in Durango can't find something better to do than harass you and the family! I think you did the right thing as well, but it is regrettable. But, don't hate us all for the stupid acts of a few.
And the fully thing...I bought the H3 because it had the best gas milage for the vehicle that did what I needed (and it looked so darn cool!!!!!!)
Good luck. My best to you and yours.

Re: Traded in my 3, thought you would want to read this...
On long Island I havent had any problems with a$$holes.I had a few people at gas stations that were driving suv's say how do you afford the gas I said It does the same or better than your suv. They were suprised ,they think it gets 12mpg .People are stupid .
But.... my wife started a new job 10 months ago ,april is when they give raises. She goes to her boss and says .45 cents isnt going to cut it as benifits since she started went up about the same as the raise and she expects more(she will get a bonus of $5,000 in January and thought she would get 1 or 2 dollar raise).
my wifes boss had the nerve to say that the president said not to hire her originaly because she drives a Hummer WTF ...were they looking at what she drove when she went for the interview ?.
It is a japanese camera company and the president that said it is japanese.
I just dont get it

Re: Traded in my 3, thought you would want to read this...
The only time that my H3 was vandalized was in Durango, CO. Someone didn't think that my Terrapass sticker on an H3 was funny and ripped it off. No sense of humor

I think you made the right choice. They may have won the battle, but they didn't win the war. Sometimes you have to know when to stand down, especially when your family is being threatened.
BTW, I've contemplated putting fully armored doors on my H1. Though here in PA, it's not a problem, but in Mass... UGH.

I can deal with stupid and/or rude people, but if I catch them defacing my property, there's going to be a "little" problem.

Despite the fact the sticker was on a Jeep, I really want to get the one that says - "PETA - People Eating Tasty Animals".
That one would look really good on the rig

Re: Traded in my 3, thought you would want to read this...
The Hummer Club use to stage in Durango for the pre-Moab trip. We do not anymore. I had a customer trade for that same reason in Santa Fe.
I am a 300 pound man so few ever even give me a look. I did have someone FU me at a gas station when i was selling and driving an H2 as a demo. I jumped in the truck and folled him to the place he parked up the road. As I jumped out of the truck he peeled out. You did the right thing for you but not for me. Good luck with the new vehicle and show your support for Durango by never visiting! money speaks louder then words today.

Re: Traded in my 3, thought you would want to read this...
Durango is one of my favotire places! You are lucky to live there! I agree you did the proper thing for your wife. I understand yougot rid of the H3 for more than just the reason of the liberals.
I was down there last Summer and had a few people flip me the bird, one person tell me to go back to wherever i cam from. The hotel had me park out front where they could see the truck. I was aware of the Hummer hate being strong there and asked the front desk about it. They told me to park out in front of the main doors where it could be watched.
I have a hard time giving up anything due to someone else's actions! But in this case, I understand where you were coming from.
Good luck with the full size truck too. Since it doesn;t say Hummer on it, you should be a little better off. now go put a Hybrid sticker on it.

Re: Traded in my 3, thought you would want to read this...
To tell you the truth, one of the things that appeals to me about the HUMMER is that it is Sooooo politically incorrect
I will probably pick up either the Alpha or a loaded Luxo this summer. I have thought about the following licenses plates:
PLNT H8R
or
PLNT KLR
We don't have the greenie wackos like CO, CA, WA, and NY, but I am sure it will pi$$ more than a few prius owners off
Also, we have Concealed Carry in KS.....I'm not suggesting anything, just saying

If you do end up in the county B&B, I will make sure you are treated the best.
The problem was that my wife was by herself and didn't think to get a plate # or description. It was in a windy canyon and would have ended up different had I been along. Of course, I would have had one of my coworkers arrest or site him instead of beating his ass. I think I've had another run-in with this guy and Karma will hopefully have us meet again.
I agree that face to face, these weasels wouldn't have the nerve to say anything to my face. As a defencive lineman on the ice, and a part of the "Rhino Squad" at work in the jail, I have no problems twisting up people into hippie pretzels. I just have to watch my "P's & Q's" so I don't get fired in the process.
Also, I have my truck paid off and have it lifted and accessorized just how I want it. I could have sold it and took over the H3, but it was as she wanted it, not how I would have done it. I figure that in a year or two, Hummer will have fixed some of the problems (like a standard V8) and will have more aftermarket support. I could see hauling my ATV's with a lifted V8 Adventure packaged 3, but towing with the I5 sucks. Time will tell.

lol so true. I hate the tree huggers who try to give hummer a bad name. Its really a shame that you had to sell the H3, but you did the right thing. Protect your family, its a lot more important than a truck. We have been given the finger countless times, but no one ever is man enough to say anything/do anything. I dont know what they think they gain by pulling this crap. I was driving the h1 we usto own one on my 18th birthday, and some dumb b!tch gave me the finger I was so pissed! I thought of ramming her but its not worth it people like that are trash, also its costly to repaint the bush gaurd. I love the plate ideas by the way! lol plnt h8r is awsome!

Re: Traded in my 3, thought you would want to read this...
Sorry that it came to what it did man. Hope things work out for you.
Now me.......I would have just gotten a magnetic sign and had it on each sign of my hummer that read........"I'd rather be bulldozing the rainforest".
It's a free country!
But I do love the area where I live in Kansas.......expensive BIG cars are a dime a dozen, and we all get along for the most part. I did experience two instances where I was given the bird, but it was accross our stateline on the Missouri side in a county called Raymore. I was stopping by a Wal-Mart there, and when I saw the people inside; (most with 6 toes on each foot, and a few with 3 eyes) plus all the Cobalts in the parking lot. It made sense.
Peace
Mark

I'm not putting any stickers on my H3 that causes tree huggers to go off. I don't want to become the victim of vandelism, etc.
Not seeing the hate here in Silicon Valley.

Mark,
LOL....I live in Olathe and could not agree more about our "country" neighbors to the east of us.
I have to go to Belton to visit the Mother-in-Law and run into the same characters over there. Lots of Grand Am's and Ford Escorts with anti George Bush bumper stickers....
