Sounds like y'all want a G-wagon

Anyways, a while back someone in this community WAS going to talk to the Lady Who Directs Hummer. Did that go through? What did she say to our previous "suggestions"?

I'm one of the few who must have been the same size as the prototype H3 model, cuz, the foot pedals and the door switch are ok. I can also go to the store and buy clothes off the rack. I enjoy adding stuff to my base package as I go along. If I had to do it again, though, I would have bought the Adventure package, bigger mud tires, and add on from there.

one thing not I've not seen mentioned yet would also be a telescoping steering column... with my long legs I have to reach pretty far forward wich took some getting used to.

No way! The 'Hoe was a glorified mall cruiser, I was happy to dump it.

I'll take the H3 anyday.

Everything mentioned so far except the radio controls on the stearing wheel. Replace that with the trigger controls for the 2 50-cals mounted on the roof.

How about a rear wiper thats sweeps further across the window instead of stopping straight up.

That really is kind of stupid but I don't know if it will really bother me since I have never really used the rear wipers on any of my SUVs.

Adding child-locks to the rear doors would be an easy change, so should a greater swing on the rear wiper.

Onboard air
Quality diesel - more power
pedals further apart

oh there is so much to write and so little time right now.... more later

Are we sick of hearing the Lexus wannabes complain about the window switch location and steering wheel contorls yet? Give it a rest.

Heated side mirrors would be a good extra cost option. We have them on our motorhome but have not used them so far. The folks living in cold country could use them and would probably be willing to pay for them, we wouldn't.

We prefer the controls on the wiper stalk because they are the same as on our motorhome, and are probably more reliable, and are always in the same location regardless of steering wheel location.

A backup camera is an option that we would pay extra for.

Best regards, Happy Jack

Run flat tires and 4 wheel independant suspension. oh yea, and wipers that work. ok, i'm dun bitchen.
sounds like with most of the changes, GM would be well served to combine all in the Hummer line and build a true civi Hummer. it would be expensive, but it would rule the world . the civi world that is. Military Hummers already rule the rest of it .

Isn't mentioning the heated mirrors about the same as the window switches and steering wheel controls?

There is no vehicle that has everything that each of us would want and knowing that I am very very happy with the H3 and would get another based on my experience so far.

Newb:

Congratulations on getting your H3! We love our H3 too.

The heated mirrors and backup camera are safety options that many would pay extra for. Control locations are personal preferences but they have been mentioned so many times that it is getting tiresome.

Best regards, Happy Jack

Thanks dieter. I agree, the safety aspect is definitely there and would pay extra for the backup camera. Mirrors don't really do anything for me down here but I can understand the need. The steering wheel controls do have their safety benefit too but not like the others. Was really just kidding about it. I personally have never had steering wheel controls (other than cruise) so don't miss them and have gotten used to the switches.

1. aux power inside the center console.
2. aux power for the back seat on backside of center console
3. coil sprung
4. better tires, bfg AT's are a good start, but mud terrains are standard on some other 4wd's (ie, the rubicon, h1, h2)
5. two recovery points at rear, like the front
6. why on earth is there not a front locker, or cdl option?!
7. it's a friggin hummer, where's the winch option?!
8. change dish, or something up front.
9. tray on dash for stuff
10. overhead nook for stuff

For future Hummer vehicles like H4 perhaps,
fun stuff:

- Even more clearance than H3, in style of H1 and HMMWV but trying to minimize cost of course. Maybe just keep up the good high-suspension standard that the H3 has set.

- More misc. heavy-duty hardware like full set of tow hooks and roof-mounted items. Ladder?

- Good sized power inverter builtin with
AC outlets. (Thanks for the three 12V outlets
in the H3, I definitely use the one in back.)

- Radical tech: A full-time Internet connection, made possible through the Verizon cell phone that is part of On-Star. This Internet connection could be used by the on-board navigation computer, for info lookup like phone number and address type info but much much more. It could also have a Wi-Fi access point builtin so that all your gadgets are on the Internet whenever they are in or near the Hummer. These days, the speed of Verizon EV-DO Internet access is up over 1 megabit per second where "BroadbandAccess" is available, which is more and more areas.

Then your passenger can read and post to these Elcova forums while cruising down the road (or high up in the mountains if you still have coverage...)

Or, satellite Internet, but this is not as practical as a factory option, and has bad latency:
http://www.raysat.com/products/

- Use Google Earth as the factory navigation system on a nice big display (with the Internet access from the previous item).

Radical pie-in-the-sky or what?
