Anyway back on topic. I asked this question to a local streetcar forum. My response there was good luck with our trans. They r telling me they are not very solid and will be my weak link....any input on this?

That trans is a weak link (the weakest in the entire drive line). With that being said you can do some things to beef it up. That is a long trailer to be towing with such a short wheelbase truck..... you will definitely need a great distribution and anti sway system. Your truck will pull it but if you load it up its going to be heavy and you will need to just take it easy...... make no mistake that you will definitely be straining your rig..... I would recommend getting a good external trans cooler at a bare minimum.

Any other upgrades? Is the issue with the trans just the over heating or is there other issues?

Trans running hot will come on if you drive thru any mountains.
Since you're in Ok, you may want to consider it since you're summers are HOT!
I didn't add a cooler to mine because I knew once I got to Florida I'd be running on pretty flat stretches and wouldn't be doing the long road trips anymore. I run it mostly around town--our campground is less than 10 min from the house.

im trying to work a deal to sell my k5 and pick up an older f250, not so much as a tow rig but more of a back up if the h cant handle it.

im going to go ahead and express my opinion here....

from what ive read of what they "can" pull. what an h3 is rated to pull, what people have pulled with it, the equipment thats on the truck....etc etc etc

here is what ive come up with. this rig is more than capable of pulling the rigs im looking at. the ONLY issue would be stopping it and if you were to drag a rig the size im looking at with out trailer brakes then i question your thought process in the first place. the trans overheating can be an issue. with a good cooler and not driving like a jack wagon, here in the flat part of the country that i live in, i think ill be ok. the only issue that i can see that i cant fix or upgrade is my wheel base. that is something that ill have to feel out and see what happens. but either way when we end up gettin this set up ill post up and let yall know how she does, how she pulls, and what if any issues i have with it

thanks for all the input though
