Shouldn't be necessary and then you still have the same problem trying to tighten the U-bolts. Trust me, I know firsthand.
If your jack isn't tall enough, use some blocks of wood to get more height. Or buy a bigger jack. Also, make sure the rear shock is removed.

I did not design her that way. You would kill her. Thy shall not kill.

Re: New Torsion Bars
Thanks guys and girls... and Son of God. I've been thinking of getting a bigger jack and taller jackstands, so maybe I'll try that first.

Re: New Torsion Bars
Finally got around to installing mine over the weekend.
Like others have mentioned, the ride is much better. Less body roll and almost no nose dive on braking or lifting when accelerating. And I was expecting the front end to be kind of bouncy, since I don't have the extra weight of a winch (yet), but its not at all. The suspension feels nice and stiff, but not jarring at all. And the install was surprisingly easy.
Definitely a worthwhile upgrade, and my suspension work is done.

Thanks for the update on the t bars. I was just thinking about those bad boys today.

Re: New Torsion Bars
So this is probablly the dumbest questions here but I am ew to the H3 and never messed with these torsion bar things. I have always just lifted my trucks. Any advice would be great.
I want to run 35's. Is getting these new torsion bars and shackles from samco better than buying one of the leveling kits? This is alot more money but i plan to keep the hummer for a while and get back into offroading.
Also do I understand that these torsion bars do not require as much cranking as the stock ones. i have heard people saying the have turned them 5+ times to get to that whole 24.25.

Re: New Torsion Bars
You can fit 35's without doing anything. Don't waste your money on the leveling kits. There is enough adjustment in the stock keys. Upgrading the t-bars isn't really necessary unless you plan on adding a lot of weight to front.

Re: New Torsion Bars
From what I've read, you don't need to do anything to fit the 35's. I like the little bit of extra lift and really like the reduced nose dive that happened when I put the SAW t-bars on. It's a little costly but was very worth it to me. Welcome to Hummer ownership!

Re: New Torsion Bars
If I had 250 dollars every time someone bought one of those "leveling" kits, why I'd be...

How do the rear shackles increase flex?

Re: New Torsion Bars
The longer rear shackles add lift and (all things being equal) increase droop. For all the benefits you Sway Bar Disconnects.... and a little longer shock? Hope this helps.

Re: New Torsion Bars
So without disconnecting the sway bar and buying longer shocks, all these do is lift the rear a little?

Re: New Torsion Bars
And travel...to an extent. Your shocks are essentially travel limiters, and so is your bumpstop.
