Re: SOB
ahhhhh, you guys and your pee-shooters kill me! I use a 454 Casull, cuz ya wants them ta stay down!! LOL When i lived in Hawaii, I had a remote with my alarm. I lived in Waikiki, 1 block away from the beach, and my alarm would go off in the middle of the night. I lived on the 25th floor penthouse and had to take the elevator down to the parking garage. Of course the azzwipes were gone by then. Had ragtop ripped open, key locks popped out, visors ripped off, etc.. etc.. I moved away from there into a more secure location 4 months later. So, back to my point...if you are going to shoot anything, up here in Alaska, you make sure it wont get back up. If you use anything less than a .44 magnum, you have to shave the front sight off the barrel, so it doesnt hurt as much coming out after a grizzly bear shoves it up your piehole! lol. Again...sorry about your tires. Someday, they will be vandalized, and the circle of life will be complete. May the dongs of a thousand inmates greet them at the pearly gates of incarceration!!

Maybe you should sell it to me then. This is all the gun shop would sell me for another 8 months. It's pretty ackward to carry around in places other than the ghetto.

Re: SOB
Oh btw - F5, did you get a proximty sensor? I was able to remove my tires while my car was armed w/o the shock sensor going off...it takes a pretty good whack to do it. If you are worried about future slashings a digital tow/tilt sensor might also be a good idea, but the proximty sensor for night would be best IMO to give you some extra time and maybe scare them off before they do anything.

Re: SOB
No proximity sensor, they go off to easily; pi**ing off the neighbors and me with false alerts. If someone slowly jacks the vehicle up, they could steal the tires, if someone comes by and slashes the tires with a small knife like last week, it won't go off.
However, the video cameras I installed that are connected to a computer via a DVR board will get their mugshot.
Fishman, if a person can take eight hydroshoks and still keep coming, I can still run.... A Casul is an overkill for self-defense, unless you have a grizzly coming at you.

Re: SOB
I encountered a grizzly a few hundred yards away in Glacier Nat Park. I didn't want to get close enough to shoot it, and I didn't have a gun. I got in my friends truck.

Wrong...
I encountered a grizzly in Yellowstone Park back in 1986. Not sure why he (or she) didn't turn on me. But I was able to get back to the car, which was not that far away, but far enough that if the grizzly wanted me for a play toy, I would probably not be writing this message at this time. (I was ready t lay down, and keep my head down just in case. That's what they say to do )
I have also encountered bears in the Smoky Mountain State Park; however, they are more afraid of you (normally) than you are of them. (Although this year there has been a few maulings in that area.)
This year on Cache road (access is via Arches National Park), my son and I came face-to-face with a Mountain Lion. We were in the Hummer, but what if we had been outside walking around?
Some of us do go to areas where there are some critters that are dangerous (not counting Detroit). I would prefer never having to shoot one, but if it was me (or my family) versus it, I sure hope I have a big handgun.

Re: SOB
Okay, well you guys are the only ones.
I'm just saying there are entirely too many threads around here about guns and in every single one you guys mention bears.
No one mentions Panthers or Tookies- just bears. Just weird.

I did mention a mountain lion. But Tookie is no longer with us, he is with the big crips gang in the sky (or down below).

Please refer to this page and my post about 3/4 down the page
http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...t=18694&page=4
bear on neighbors deck - while she was on deck reading Our cabin is about three miles from Glacier Park. Also large cats have been mauling kids off and on over the last 20 years every so many years
Five bears roaming the area two years ago, one was treed at the resort 3 lots away. Several neighbors around the lake had bears in their yard or on their decks. Everyone needs to be armed now

Re: SOB
Bears in my area? Well yes there are. and we see several each year. Do I think they want to come after me? No. Actually Black Bears are just Big Dogs. They will run when Startled and they want nothing to do with people...only their trash.
However, Grizzlies are a different story. They will only kill you if you smear bacon grease on the tent but other than that they don't want anythig to do with people either.
In general there is no reason to fear them. When you are in their / Grizzly areas, like the northern areas of the US, Canada and Alaska, you may encounter them. It does not mean that they look at you as prey. In the west I would be more concerned with Cougars, Coyotes and snakes than with Bears.
Now as far as Tookies go, Well nothing less than a .44/.45. Colorado has the "Make My Day" Law. I did remind a client of that law when he showed up last week and just walked into the house at 7:30 am. I was in the shower and the wife was still in bed and let out a little scream when the door opened. There I was soaking wet letting him know that he is lucky I was in the shower and that he didn't try that manuever in the middle of the night. Stay the fock out of peoples homes unless they invite you in....it could be your last mistake.
