We didn't run the whole trail because there were a bunch of idiots shooting guns & rifles up the trail on Saturday morning and we didn't feel like taking any chances. Bullets do funny things when skipped off granite.
It turns out that it was one of the first weekends that the trail wasn't being patrolled by the sheriffs.

Bravo for F*@#ing up your truck. It takes some nuts to actually take it out and use it they way it is supposed to be used. Don't worry about the damage underneath, it's there to be chewed up.
I took my new truck out yesterday with Steve and had a blast. Only a couple of gouges on the rocker panels. Billy has a handy dandy side rail that juts out about 4 inches. He designed one for the H1 and probably has one for the H2. I bet this would have saved your door???

Outstanding! I would have loved to see that thing in action! The season is about over and my junk is going under the knife already for next years suspension mods. So next year my club and I are really looking forward to hitting the trail with you. I know RCRC is ready too. You did great and kudos to you for get'n on it.
Till next season...

I'll do the Rubicon again next year and I'll have some improved sidebars and frame protection. I'll also have magnetic shields and vinyl wrap protection for the upper part of the rig. And a better mount for my camcorder.

Drty, are you having side bars custom made?

Yep. Going to use the factory bars and add some extensions to them. If I would have done it before I went my rig wouldn't have suffered needlessly.
I'll be thinking about this all winter.

I think square tubing would fit the H2 better. Esthetically that is. Definitely would go heavier guage.

Steve probably has some pics of Billy's Humvee with the side rails. They worked well for him on our last trail.
Yes, this is a call out Steve. Post a pic for us.

DRTYFN,
Just curious, what did you lower your tire pressure to for the rocky trails?

I used my Staun deflators to air down to 16psi. As you can see I'm running GY MTRs. They are the best offroad tire I've seen. Well worth the money. An overwhelming majority of the rigs on the Rubi were shod in MTRs also.
Hear that GY? Now pay me for that shameless endorsement.

DIRTYFN,
You must have nuts the size of those boulders and a wallet the same weight to f-up your truck like that with an apparent smile on your face.
Somewhere right now, a GM marketing exec is smiling that at least 1 H2 is being used the way they designed it to be used...
Well done, you'll find me crawling over parking bumps in the local supermarket parking lot (smaller nuts and wallet)
