Re: I'm thinking about switching over to the other team.
My two cents - if you want a "real" work horse PC look at the HP xw8200 with dual xeons and 15k scsi drives (supports SATA and IDE as well) and all the ram you want as it will hold more than you want to pay for. I am running 6 gigs and thats all I need for my porn.. haha

Ok I went back at it, figured out a few mistakes, but I think you might have made a few too. There are probably a few fine points that could be argued but this is as close as I could get the two. Apple still comes with better software.

OK, my bad on configuring it wrong. There isn't enough left over after getting the Dell to also purchase the Denon stereo receiver. But, for the money, you are going to get more bang for the buck going PC - too much competition, prices will always be lower.
It's almost like the H3. There aren't a lot of aftermarket companies yet, so the prices stay high. Tack on that Hummer owners are perceived as 'loaded' with cash (trust me I'm not), and so the price will be high not because of cost but because of the perceived purchasing power of the buyers in that market. The same bumper for a Jeep might be 10, 15, or 20% cheaper than an H3 because that's what the Jeep owners will pay.
And wow, I burned a good portion of 'casual work' Friday hanging around these forums...maybe I'll go take a half day...

I couldn't get past page 2 with out having to jump in.
I have just gone to a new macbook pro. It is intel based and fantastic. I am a Unix/Windows Engineer and have been in IT for over 12 years. The MAC is a fantastic system. Run parallels on it and you can run any OS you want. I currently run, MAC OSX, Solaris 10, CentOS 4.4, CentOS 5 and XP all on one machine. It is great! Go with MAC.

Re: I'm thinking about switching over to the other team.
Since you all aren't talking laptops, I'd get this one. All I do is fart around on the internet messing with people anyway.
I'm quite sure you can't get an Apple for this price.
BTW, the laptop I'm on was under $400 and I can fck with people just fine with it.
