I installed mine a couple of weeks ago and used it last weekend. I did not run the air line under the vehicle, since you have to open the hood to turn on the compressor. The hose reaches all four tires. Compressor gets pretty hot after inflating four tires.

It's nice to know it's there when I need it. After this pic I turned the pressure gauge so you can see it and painted the hardware black. The pressure gauge is off by 5 psi, but no big deal.

By the way, I got the super flow compressor, which is identical to the masterflow compressor. I ordered it online, but saw it later at GI Joes.

My guage on the compessor is off by about 5 psi also.
I just put 40 to 42psi in when tires hot and use my digital gauge in the morning to bring it to 35lbs.After each tire is full I shut off comp than remove hose hook up to next tire and so on that way its not running the whole time.I think its rated to go 30 minutes running constantly.

I noticed your air filters not attatched. put it on

I guess theres no need to run the line under the truck if it reaches from compressor ,just be carefull not to scrape the hose on the body.

I dont remember if i listed picture of where i put the hose. I got a clear bag at the dollor store and it fits behind the battery so everything is under the hood.I also used a magnetic key holder attached to comp to hold ball ,air bed and inflatable adapters.

whoops! That was one of the things I fixed after I took the pic. If you look closely you can see where the air filter fell to the right of the compressor. I also switch off the compressor between tires, but the quick dis-connect was still pretty hot afterwards. I have my air hose in the tailgate tucked next to the jack.

I like the idea of a cig lighter plug in type.

I installed a safety wire on the air filter so it won't vibrate off.
The compressor does run a little hot but, if it gets to hot it will automatically shut off to protect from overheating (a very nice feature!).

The lighter type are not as powerfull, they take a looooong time to fill 4 tires
The MF compressor comes with cables that attach to the battery terminals or you do what we did.

If you dont need it to air up just to top off tires and a emergency the plug type would be fine

I'm guessing that if you put some plumbers tape on the threads you wouldn't have to worry about it.

Did you use a Heavy duty disconect like one below .
I used a smaller RC car conect on my horn switch(so I can remove dash)
I dont think that one would work well for the compressor.

The quick disconnect I was talking about was the air hose disconnect. I don't have a disconnect on the wiring yet.

Oh yeh that will get hot its on top of the compressor(not hot enough to burn though.)
Jp said the motor cuts off when overloaded/hot so I wouldnt worry about it.
Having a disconect for wiring is a good Idea so it can be removed easy if you nead to get to the fuse box.(or for a emergency shut down).

It's not the whole filter casing I'm worried about, just the filter cover.

The only trouble I notice is how difficult it is to fit my hand in to press front outside clip of fuse housing. I have to spin off air filter to loosen rear outer one, thinking about trimming sheet metal at front edge to help...I left as much clearance as all your pics showed, did I miss something?
