I'd rather just have it be able to play mp3 cd's.....then I don't have to go out and buy an ipod....

I like CDs because they don't have to be restored all the time! (Damn ipods!)

Re: 2008 H2 - Official Pics & Video
mechanically, i really like the 08 model. a larger displacement motor with cylinder on demand is a great feature. Also, the stability/yaw control is and the 6 speed trans is a good added feature. Paddle or driver controlled shifts for towing of off-roading sure, why not.
However, the thing i love about my h2 is that it looks like an h2 and "nothing else" being built by am general is great and all. Thus, with the new 08, i really dont like the looks or the way GM has tailored it to look LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE it sells. Your not gonna look at that interior and not see a mix of a tahoe/escalade/silverado. That center section with the polished outline is what almost every other GM has...
and that is why i dont like this new model. It seems to have stepped away from what AM G. designed with GM's help to something almost strictly from a GM design department. I see no 'hummer' in that interior, where we spend most of our time.. and that kinda gets to me a bit. Not a complete overkill just not what i excepted.
The rear a/c vents and other features are great... they should of just tweaked an interior that says hummer, not GM.
EDIT: Well, i will say that the black interior pics are awesome! But not hummer and that sh!t just kinda kills it for me... add some titties to it please!! That is all we need!

Re: 2008 Hummer H2 - Official Pics & Video
Any news on towing capacity?
The H3 alpha is up to 6,000lbs. Hope the H2 increases as well. (F150 11,000 lbs)

Even though the H2's built a lot tougher than the F-150, it's heavier, thus lowering it's tow rating. It'll be interesting to see if it goes up.

Re: 2008 Hummer H2 - Official Pics & Video
Maybe more than 8,000 w/ air. I tow around 9,500 now (06 SUT) from time to time w/o issues on 37's. I by no means endorse or recommend towing this much! There is my dosclaimer.

Re: 2008 Hummer H2 - Official Pics & Video
What about the new F350. 24,500 lb towing capasity. If it keeps going up like this soon a F350 will be able to tow more than a FL70.

Re: 2008 Hummer H2 - Official Pics & Video
My sincerest apologies if this has already been addressed, but from the pics that include views of the windshield/rear view mirror, I don't see Rainsense wiper or Intellibeam placements. The first option is very handy on rainy days, the second is great for nightime driving on two-lane highways, and both are currently available on a similarly priced Escalade.

So I guess you ordered one tim! SUT?? Grey?? Adventure? Porno red interior?
When I ordered my 06, they did not tell me the mirrors and dash indicator had changed, and no one seemed to know about the changes until the 06's started showing up, so maybe they will just have the HID!!!! (Wishful thinking, right).

I ordered the H2 SUV with the removeable hard top. It will be the desert green cactus needle color with orange sage interior.
It should be porntastic~!

Re: 2008 Hummer H2 - Official Pics & Video
new six-speed Hydra-Matic 6L80 RWD electronically controlled automatic transmission backs the 6.2L engine. The six-speed automatic has a wide, 6.04:1 overall ratio – including two overdrive gears – that helps deliver an excellent balance of performance and fuel economy. Also, the 6L80 has a "tap up/tap down" capability that allows the driver to manually select upshifts and downshifts with a button on the column shifter. The new powertrain combination helps the 2008 H2 and H2 SUT deliver an additional 1,500 pounds (680 kg) in towing capacity – an increase from 6,500 pounds (2,948 kg) to 8,000 pounds (3,629 kg). A host of additional powertrain revisions also contributes to the H2's improved performance and efficiency, including:- Larger-capacity cooling system complements larger, more powerful engine
- Electric engine cooling fans reduce "drag" on engine, enabling more horsepower
- Regulated voltage control maximizes fuel economy by charging electrical components only when necessary
- New LAN electrical architecture is more efficient and uses less electrical energy
- Standard 3.73 rear axle ratio
This does talk about the tap up/ tap down feature for the "M" on teh shifter.
But WTF is with the 3.73 rear axle?

Re: 2008 Hummer H2 - Official Pics & Video
6l80e gears:
First: 4.02
Second: 2.36
Third: 1.53
Fourth: 1.15
Fifth: 0.85
Sixth: 0.67
4l60e/4l65e gears:
First: 3.06
Second: 1.63
Third: 1.0
Fourth/OD: 0.7
Interesting, no true 1.0 gear, thour fourth is very, very close. With the drop in rear gear ratio with the new trans, it would seem as you are still achieving a lower cruise rpm per same mph with the new trans however, not enough to possible overheat the trans/drivetrain.
Also, went through a different set of gear/mph calculators. At 2000rpm, the est. mph in our current truck is about 72ish mph with an est. 35" tire, 4.11 rear and a fourth/od of .7. Now, at 2000rpm with the new setup, est. 35" tire, 3.73 rear with the sixth .67 ratio, that bumps it up to about 83mph.
So, your increase cruise speed at a given rpm, however, there MIGHT be a bit more strain on the trans though since it has more gears, it can more evenly spread the load instead of just 4 gears with the original 4l65e.
I really like the new powertrain of the 08. Finally GM is getting to something interesting... however, im not to sure on the interior, but i have to see one in person.

Re: 2008 Hummer H2 - Official Pics & Video
Hey guys new member here!
Currently I own 5 H2's, 4 are 25 passenger limos and previously owned an H1 before the H2's came out.
These upgrades for the H2 are the biggest news ever.
Even if it only gets 2 MPG thats an increase of 15-20%, that means buying 20% less gas! Thats alot. 3 mpg would be 25-30%.
Nobodys excited of an increase of 75 horsepower before any mods? And when cruising getting 25% better gas economy, come on! You guys are crazy!!!
Rear vents and extra stuff are good too.
Ive been calling my dealer they tell me they dont have pricing on the 08's yet, they have some ordered for stock of the lot but not pricing so you can custom order exactly what options you want.
I really hope they have HID lights, how can they not offer this in a $60k+ truck? The escalades are pretty close to the same price and have them standard!
