Driving the new Porsche compared to the older style is much like driving a C6 compared to a C5 to a C4 Corvette.
Obviously more powerful, better handling and definitely smoother. I can't explain how smooth this car is in the turns.
It's only 315HP which is not overly exciting but with a 4.8 0-60 and a top speed of 174mph, it'll get for an aspirated 6 cyl.
I've always wanted a Porsche because to me, it's a driver's car built by drivers. It's ergonomically correct, it's smooth, everything fits, the clutch is fantastic.... and since I wanted a convertible, that left me with either spending 140-160K for a 911 convertible or 80K for a Boxster. I've always liked everything about a Boxster but the body style. It was entirely too feminine for me. (no offense to those that have one)
Anyway, love the car, can't wait to hit the track with it.

LOL!!! Says the guy who immediately put a keg in the trunk of his Porsche...AND stopped to take a picture! TOO FUNNY!
It's pretty though...I'm not one for foreign cars, but it does look nice for a Boxster. They definitely 'manned them up.'

I agree, the Z06 looks fantastic... the interior however... let's just say that it's not my cup of tea. (quilted, harley skulls, carbon fiber, leather, suede, looks like he couldn't make up his mind in what direction/theme he wanted to take his car towards)
The BMW is tastefully done, I love the supercharger and the interior looks great... nice job!!
I'll bet it's a blast to drive.

LOL, sorry...my bad. Okay, I don't like Jake and his carbon fibre and 50's quilted look..lol.
The car however is hot as shiet. Perfect stance, beaaautiful color. But hey, it's not my car, he's the only one that needs to like it.

Sorry, haven't been on in a while... Well, the wife and I used to live in Hollywood, and we were both, I guess you can call us paparazzi
We did it for aobut 12 years and retired and moved to NH about 4 years ago, before it got very crazy there like is it now. There was no chasing celebs in cars back then, most of our work was clubs, restaraunts, and some red carpet. The red carpets don't pay squat... there literally was no competition back then and it paid crazy crazy money because of exclusive shots, meaning I would be the only one with the shot and the mags would bid on them like crazy...
I know a lot of people have a problem with that line of work, but say what you will, that is my lil toy $ secret

Re: What other toys do you have?
I'm like some of you guys too, my toys are more like most of these guys' toilet paper, but it is what it is. Maybe someday I will make enough to have some nice stuff.

Re: What other toys do you have?
I had a 1985 and 1989 Porsche 911 and loved everything about them except the air conditioning on the older 911s left a lot to be desired. You get an incredible feel for the road in a Porsche that is unique. The '89 was a turbo and spent a few days in the shop under warranty getting the turbo issue ironed out that they had with the 88 and 89 models. As far as a driver's car, they're right with the BMW M5 in my opinion, but the new M5s have gotten too big and don't compare to the older E39s. My favorite toy is my 2004 Vortech supercharged Z06 with the Bassani short tube headers and Borla exhaust. With 588 RWHP it is more car than I will ever need. It is much more comfortable than my old Viper and I can actually do a road trip in the Corvette and be comfortable in it. With the lack of sound proofing and insulation in the Z06 I do get some blower whine from it. It's also getting harder to find the thin glass they used on the C5 Z06 for windshield and sides. I have a spare windshield I keep at the shop just in case. I just got home last night from Corvettes at Carlisle and the C5 drove like a dream. With all that said, I will always have a soft spot for German engineering and the Porsches.

I love Porsches and Corvettes too! There's something I've also always loved about German engineering. My Hummer has become my daily driver but I also have kept my 2002 BMW M5 and agree that the new ones have gotten too big. It's the longest I've ever kept a car. These are my garage queens. They are solid investments - like a 401k! You can't take it with you and I find myself going out in the garage and just sitting in them. I love your Porsche, Mark. Every German car should come with a keg of beer, just like some Italian car dealers give you a case of wine with the sale!

I was wondering what the hell was going on out by Carlisle. I was coming back from Hershey and I kept seeing Corvette after Corvette on 81...it was very surreal. LOL!
