I have just recently added a K&N FIPK air intake and a Superchips Power Programmer to my 2003 H2. I have had it on for a few weeks now and haven't noticed any increase in my gas mileage, actually it has gone down. I was wondering if anyone knew what the best setting on the programmer was for the H2? Right now it is on the highest setting and I believe that is causing my mileage to be bad.

Hi programers are not going to get You much if any MPG improvement. They will give You better Perf. by adjusting timging etc. With this usually Your foot gets heavy liking the power and You burn more gas by spending more time at WOT. If You go to what is usually called economy I do not recomend it unless on a long trip with fairly level roads. The reason being Your tranny will continually shift up and down in economy if you are not at a high enough speed to average out the hills other than needing HP to do it.
Most tuner manufacturers suggest You put them in the tow mode as a happy median to get firm trans shift and not advance timing as much. I have alot of stuff on as far as add on for perf. and I run a Fast Flash Handheld which was Powerflash until Comp Cams bought it. I have run it in economy and saw some minor improvement but, the tranny shifting back and forth drove me nuts and I went back to perf. With care I get the same milage as stock programing did and actually with cold air intake, tbody spacer, etc. I improved about .5 on MPG maybe a little better even in perf. But, I settled there so I have the HP and torque I want if i need it. Everybody has different desires and mine is to be able to pull away from rice rockets and others so a supercharger is next and very soon. If You have anymore questins I will be glad to try and answer.
You can also go to find button at top and type in a word search like programers and it will pull up threads where it has been discussed. Just let Me know if I can be of more help.
I forgot to mention the one reason I got improved milage in perf. mode is You can control shifting or torque management with your foot by letting off the throttle and making it shift sooner into high gear at a slower speed so the more time You are in OD the better the milage becuase of lower RPM in use. It takes some getting use to and feeling the tuning changes out but, You can learn to manipulate the RPM's more with a programer than You can in stock mode. You just have to play with it and You will figure it out. I have used Hypertech and Fast Flash so those are the only one I havw direct experience with but, I'm assuming the rest work the same.
Hope this helps.
TAZ
