Default front hitch - how to deal with vertical pin?

Is there an adapter or something to make the front hitch usable with standard receivers? With a vertical pin, I can not see how a reciever can attach.

Yes. GM Part # 12499083.

It's part of a complete trailer package... sells for $160 at your dealership, or you can get it from GM Parts Direct for $115 (copy and paste the part # into the search box).

It looks like this:

can u buy the pin by itself. I have the hitch already

Yes you can. the OEM articulated hitch pin which drops in from the top is GM Part No. 15059236. $28.48 + shipping at gmpartsdirect.com or about $47 at your local stealership.

The other alternative is a locking hitch pin such as the Bully locking hitch pin (Google it) which must be inserted from the bottom of the receiver. Looks like this:
