Question H2 Stock Navi Play DVD

Hello,

I was just wondering if there is a way to play DVDs on the 2006 Stock Navigation while in Drive??? It works in park, but not in drive.

Thanks,
Juice

Movies do not play on my 05 TSN. I think there is a Mod that was discussed on the old board to adapt it to play DVD's?

I have converted my Nav to DVD as well. There is a converter you can by on ebay from Navtool that lets you play DVD on your stock Nav unit. You have to get a DVD head unit and stash it under the back seat but it works great once installed. It is well worth the upgrade and picture is great. There is another thread about this on this Board somewhere.

I've got that understood, but the first post doesn't indicate anything about a separate unit.

Thanks,

No, you can't just put a DVD into the stock head unit and play a DVD.

Absolutely correct. The '06 and prior TNR radios cannot play regular dvd's as their firmware only directs them to read dvd rom formats (data and mapping). I suppose you could hack the unit, dump the chip, and rewrite the necesary firmware, but that's pretty much impossible unless you happen to be codeboy deluxe, have access to chip readers, and are technically proficient in assm to make the necessary changes.

With all that bs said, there is a company called navtv that makes those sorts of mods to many euro and japanese nav units sent into them. I suppose they might be able to mod the Delphi units, but you have to send it to them and they ain't cheap!!!!

No, there is a way to get the stock navi to play DVD's but it takes something that I saw from another company...lemme see if I can find it.
This...
http://www.nav-tv.com/domestic.htm
another
http://www.tvandnav2go.com/car-dvd-player.html
another
http://www.avelectronic.com/products.htm

But I am not aware of a way to make it work without one of these.

Nope, read the details of that first link. They are still using an external source, no the internal dvd player

dont mean to hijack the thread but you cant play movies from your stock deck you can only use it as a screen and its not very good but does the job. of coarse this statment only counts for usa in europe they have different ****t.

KODIAKZ i have a question off topic i have a 06 E55 benz do you carry any fiber optic hook ups so i can play my ipod? and are they gonna make one so i can use the videos out of the ipod to the stock screen?

No video--you would have to pull the unit and send to NavTv to get that enabled.

Hi guys.
to modify you nav to be able to watch movies, you don't need to send the nav radio out. you can do it your self. here is how it's done

and this is the pics I took after some of those installs
