I'm hanging out at Anderson Hummer while they replace one of my exhaust gaskets. So I have time to kill.

Nobody's here yet so I am alone in the showroom. Oh the trouble I might get into...

As a general comment, there are NO H1's in the showroom, only 1 H2, and 3 H3's. I guess we see a reflection of what's been selling.

I thought I figured out why the H3's were selling so quickly... then I looked at the sticker! My goodness these things sticker at 39,000!! I guess I've been in the dark. I thought they cost WAYYY less than that.

Frankly, I am sort of shocked. I was thinking about getting an H3 for Hong... but given the price, I think I might as well just get another 2.

Not a complaint about GM. They need to do what they do and should get as much as they can for their product... but wow... I had no idea the sticker was so high!

The advertised around $30K H3 would be a base model with no options, if you could find one.

The H3s at Moore in Dulles ranged from about $30K to $35K as of a few weeks ago.

Oh goodness!

Can you believe it? Two of my cross members got bent, my front skid plate is mangled, and the UCP is touching the exhaust! The transmission is slightly shifted and some other "little stuff" is going on.

I wonder how that happened?

Looks like the Hummer will be here for a couple days. That means no Paragon this weekend for me.

You're still at the dealership, right?

Buy Hong the H3 as a suprise and you'll be all good! Email this guy: richard.ott@gm.com to get a GMID #. Thats who I got mine from.

I've elected to "get a little extra work done"...

But I might get an H3 for a loaner....

shipbldr,
I'm sorry for your troubles.
When, and where, do you think the damage occurred?
Do you think additional under armor would have prevented it?

I'm looking forward to meeting you and Hong at Paragon. I hope you can make it.

I know exactly when the damage happened... The ironic part is where it happened.

The damage I'm dealing with happened at the Anderson Hummer Happening last June. It was my first time offroading the truck, we were in a stream, and I drive off a rock. The sudden drop-off jammed the UCP into the exhaust and opened the exhaust flange.

There are numerous other nits and picks under there that the shop guys are oo-ing and ahhh-ing about. Theres a bunch of stuff I could probably get away with not replacing... but once you start taking things apart to get in there... it doesn't really make lot of sense to strap mangled parts back in place.

Mike is working on it. He seems to understand what I want done. The biggest surprice really is that I will have to replace the Y-pipe and since the CAT's are built in... it pretty expensive. Almost $500 for the part....

Most of the rest isn't that bad. I think the cross members are a couple hundred bucks each... new skid plate... UCP... I might have them leave off the skid plate and UPC since I was going to run the truck up to HGW... I'll be calling up there in a few minutes anyway...

Fun Fun Fun...

HGW comes through again!

John @ HGW says they can fix all of it for $10 bucks.

Gotta love that company!

Does he need to be signed up for special email? Not smart posting email in public.

I can't remember where exactly I got the address from. It was either here, edmunds.com, or on a Corvette forum. Doing a google search on 'get GMID number" brought his address up as the first hit.

I did not know this guy at all when I asked for a GMID #, and he sent a valid one within a few hours. Saved me big bucks.

I get the feeling that this "person" is a special account in some marketing department created just to issue these numbers. Otherwise "he" would have been shut down long, long ago.

What is a GMID#? A secret password for a secret discount?

Wilfred -

Take a look at these POSTS. GMID stands for GM in Driveway which is a discount program which can save you a substantial amount of cash vs. MSRP. Good Luck.
