Don't Mess With An H2!!!
The number of experiences I have had with regards to "H2s vs. Other Cars" are really piling up, with the latest one involving a hit and run where my wife was driving our H2 and someone hit her. This just happened yesterday. My wife was in the middle lane of a very busy 3-lane road. In the right lane, a public transportation bus was stopped to pick up people. A car behind the stopped bus became very inpatient and -- without looking of course -- began to pull into the middle lane...where my wife was. Well, his side mirror hit the black trim around the front wheel-well. The tires of the offending vehicle also ran up against the strong-as-hell factory (or dealer) installed side steps. I credit the side steps with keeping the offending vehicle off of my H2 for the most part, such that the only damage I got was two small black marks from the side mirror, slight scrapes running along the length of my side steps, and a couple of small, barely visible scrapes in the black trim where the mirror had hit. What happened to the offending vehicle? His mirror was smashed and was ripped off...my wife could see it dangling from the car by its wires as the guy took off never to be seen again. My wife thought there would be a ton of damage to the side of our H2 because it shook the truck so much and the impact was very loud (probably when the guy's mirror was being ripped off by my front wheel-well). When I got home and assessed the situation, I simply got into my H2, patted her on the dashboard, and said "Way to go my little H2!!!! You show 'em who's boss!!!" It's also another thing to add to the list of reasons to keep an H2...in case there was ever any doubt.
I could share a few other similar stories, but since this one is the most recent, I figured I would start with this and follow up with a few others later.

Re: Don't Mess With An H2!!!
thats good that it takes a Hit well, I had a trailer come loose and it stayed hooked on the safety chains. I went to the side of the road and the only damage was a tiny mark where the crank tower hit the rear bumper as I stopped. . the best one so far was my wife backed into it with her mini van. she was complaing about "not seeing it there". it hit the sheet metal above the tail light with the grill gaurd.

Re: Don't Mess With An H2!!!
Here's another story I have, and I swear over anybody in my family's grave that this really happened!! A bunch of friends took me out for my bachlor party in April of last year. One friend stayed sober in order to be a desgnated driver, so a bunch of us piled into my H2 and drove to the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City. We pulled up in front of the casino in one of the many valet parking lanes. A guy came over to get the keys, etc. While he was doing that, one of my other friends started to open the rear passenger door on the right side of the vehicle. He didn't get it open more than about 6 inches and WHAM!!!! It turns out that another valet driver was bringing back someone's tricked-out Lincoln Navigator and pulled up WAY TOO close to my H2, so the Navigator's mirror wacked the edge of rear door as it was opening. The mirror housing on the Navigator stayed attached to the vehicle, but it did crack and "fold in" like H2 mirrors do when you're parking in tight spots. The glass of the mirror fell on the ground and shattered. The valet driver got out, admitted immediately that it was his fault, and said they would pay for any damage to my H2. However, to this day we have never been able to find even a scratch on the door. It is almost kinda freaky how that could happen. I couldn't even tell you exactly where the Navigator's mirror actually hit my rear door. So H2's not only handle the off-road abuse, they seem to handle "on-road" abuse pretty well too. I am sure there are people out there with even better stories than what's been posted here so far.
I'll post yet another story for those interested...I have at least two more, one of which I'll admit was my fault.

Re: Don't Mess With An H2!!!
OK, I have the time right now since my wife is off in Vegas for a bachlorette party this weekend, so here's a pretty good story. I should change the title of the thread to "Don't Play Road-Rage With An H2 Unless You Have Something Just As Big Or Bigger, Because You Won't Win!!"
I was pulling up to a red light in an intersection and was aiming for the left-turn lane of the intersection. There was a lot of traffic in the straight lane, so some woman in a Subaru Outback decided at the last minute that she wanted to jump into the left-turn lane instead of waiting to go straight. Well, she just pulled right out in front of me. I had enough time to slam on the brakes and make the tires squeel on the pavement from the anti-lock kicking in. At his point neither of us was completely stopped and we were still moving up towards the traffic light, but I was naturally on her ass because I had almost just slammed into the back of her car. At this point, I was just glad I didn't hit her, and then I see her look up into her rearview mirror. What I see is her making a face because she thinks I'm too close to her, and she must not figure that this is because she pulled out in front of me. So what does she do? She pulls one of those "well if you want to be that close to me, then let me hit my brakes and see what you do then" maneuvers. Well since I was already close to her, not expecting her to nail the brakes, and still just getting over the adrenaline rush from almost hitting her previously, I just didn't have enough time to stop my truck again (I admit that some little part of me didn't want to stop either ). So I ended up nailing her in the ass, and boy was I pissed!!! I got out of my truck and went up to her car and tried to ask her what the hell she was doing. She just rolled up the window and we pulled over to the side of the road. I assessed the damage and it turns out that my tow hook on the front of the truck put a nice dent in her tailgate and bumper, but there was nothing wrong with my truck (except a little bit of her paint on the tow hook). We were waiting in our cars for the police to show up and then all of the sudden she just drove away. She never even asked for my insurance info or anything, so then I left. I guess she finally realized what an idiot move that was on her part and decided not to blame it on me.

Re: Don't Mess With An H2!!!
I had something similar to your 1st and 3rd stories. I was coming to a stop in a left turn pocket when an older Persian lady with very thick glasses decided to pull into the pocket from the #1 lane. Se ended up scratching the passenger side of my hood and breaking one of my "U" steps. But she lost her mirror, got a fair amount of body damage and could not drive away, cause my steps had speared her left front tire. The cop wrote her as being at fault.

In hind site, I have to agree with you on that. But at the time, I was influenced by my wife who was doing the same thing. Next time I'll remember to say something a bit more appropriate for an H2.

Re: Don't Mess With An H2!!!
O.K. have to add this one. Driving down a city street, posted 45 mph. I'm doing 50 in the left lane. Look out my right mirror and see a brand new Porsche Boxster doing 70+ in the right lane, about 1000' back. For some unknown reason, he doesn't see the construction signs saying right lane ends, merge left. Decides he can't make it around me and moves in behind me. Traffic in front of me is stopped, I hit my brakes, and yes, HE DOESN'T! I get out of my truck to find the rear wheels off the ground and his windshield broken by my tow hooks. The guy is O.K., the only damage to my truck is a dent in the differential cover-Porsche=demolished. When the cops showed up, I thought the one was going to have a heart attack, he was laughing so much.
