This may be an old post but I was unable to find any like it. Everybody keeps asking me if the H3 carries the same chassis and undercarriage as the Colorado/Canyon. I know it is on the same frame and same engine but not sure what else is different. I guess when I get the H3 book from amazon it might tell me but til then any body have any input. I don't really like my H3 being thought of as an SUV on the truck frame and feel somewhat offended by it.

the h3 is less than 10 percent canyon/colorado . the boxing of frame and added crossmembers make the frame about 300 percent stronger . the 90 percent thats hum you dont get on the PU's its still all gm parts bin stuff but just stronger than canyon/colorado parts.

Many if not most vehicles these days are derived from something. At least in the case of Hummers some real Engineering's involved.
Yea the book shows some nice details.

a h3 on a truck platform is much stronger than a unibody suv . im proud its on a truck chassis most of us refer to our hummers as trucks try this with a unibody and see how it drives home .

Get used to it, gang. It'll only get worse as more of you hit the trials and embarrass the Jeeps.

I recently had a colorado rental car (extended cab,I5,4x4) there is no comparison to the H3. H3 feels much better built to be and the interior is much nicer (rental car had 200 miles on it) - not that the colorado wasn't a nice truck, it just didn't compare to the H3.
