Bergstrom Hummer in Wisconsin sponsored a Hummer Happening at the AM General Off Road Course. 320 acres of challenging off roading trails and man made obstacles to concur. It was an awesome event put on by the staff at AM General off roading instructors and guides. The registration was on Friday at the Marriott in South Bend which was followed up by a reception party that went till 11 P.M. that night. The following morning at 9:45 I arrived at the facilities along with a Bergstrom representative, Matt. The day started off with a off road drivers brief and power point that lasted about a 30 minutes. Then the participants got issued two-way radios and got assigned to a colored team. I was part of the red team that made up of nine Hummers, most were H3 and there were a few H2s' I began with in the man made and inside track obstacles. Which consisted of 60 degree hill climbs and Moguls, log traversing, and water fording to name a few. After building confidence on the local course. It was then time to hit the trails. Our trail guide was awesome. We took Level 1 and Level 2 paths. Encountered many challenges throughout the first leg which last about an hour and half. Then around noon all the convoys came in for chow. BBQ ribs and chicken, mashed potatoes and all the fixings. After stuffing our faces we watched a winching demo and then we hit the trails once more. This time more daunting paths then the previous. The day concluded around 4 P.M. and I was sad to call it a day. I was sure was a blast! I would go again. As for my H3 performance in negotiating the trails. I would say this, I wish I had the e-locker. What a big difference that I saw with the H3 that had them and the ones that didn't. Kudos for Bergstrom for sponsoring the event! They even removed my step rails for free before I left! Also while I was waiting for maintenance to remove my side step rails I purchased chrome roof rack rails. Thanks Dave! Once again, I am really impressed how the Service and Parts department at Bergstrom know how to make their customers happy. Here are a few pics from the event!

Coming out of the moguls. Nice and slow was the key to traversing this part. Letting the front end come down easy.

One of the trails that we saw during the day. The name of this trail was called: THE JEEP EATER. I figured you Hummer guys would get a kick out of that.

I also was in the red group at this hummer happening and had a great time. I would definetly agree that if you are thinking of buying an H3 and going to do any off-roading to get the adventure package. The larger tires and rear locker made a huge differences. Three H3s got stuck in a few spots and I made it through without any problems.
