What is the correct cold tire pressure ?
Hi, for the H2, on the door jam, it says that the cold tire pressure is: 42 psi.
But on the tire it says: 50 psi cold tire pressure ( BF Goodrich All Terrain ).
Any thoughts ?
Thank you.

Re: What is the correct cold tire pressure ?
I checked the owners manual for the H2, it says to use the pressure amount as shown on the sticker on the pillar. Your pressures are 8 lbs apart between 42 and 50 psi, why not just split the difference and go with 46 psi and use the 42/50 as a range to stay at?
Just a suggestion. 1-2 lbs wont make THAT much difference.

Re: What is the correct cold tire pressure ?
I don't have answer for you, but I keep mine at 42 and last week one was low and the warning light came one. I didn't think it was that low, it was something like 38-39 cold when the light came on, but judging from that, I think if the computer thinks 39 is low, that 42 aint that far away from being a bit low too... Ahhh I don't freakin know... I think I will go by fyr145's advice and go in the middle somewhere...

Re: What is the correct cold tire pressure ?
THe tire pressure on the tire itself is always the max pressure you can put into that tire for maximum load. It has nothing to do with the recommended tire pressure of a H2. Always orientate yourself on the sticker on your Hummer.

Re: What is the correct cold tire pressure ?
My 05 with 17" rims only calls for 37 lbs. The bigger the rim like with the newer models the higher the pressure needs to be.

Thanks, looks like I'm back to 42 again...
Also I think I made a mistake, my low pressure light kicked in at 37 possibly 38. It was on for a few days and when I checked it was warm 39 and cold at 37...

Re: What is the correct cold tire pressure ?
ALways check your tire pressure when the tires are cold. When driving, they go up a few psi.

Same with my 04. But I found that going from 37 to 40 PSI gives me almost 2 MPG more and the handling and tread life are about the same as running 37. That's strictly for highway and dirt road driveing....no serious offroad. Got 50K out of original factory tires

Re: What is the correct cold tire pressure ?
When I brought it home new from the dealer I noticed they had 36 psi in each tire - perhaps to soften the ride. Two months later I aired them up to 42 psi and got 57,000 miles out of them before putting the 37s on. I'm going back to the original BFGs after these wear because of the highway noise and stiffer ride. I do love the 37s in snow and mud, however, we haven't had much snow this year to test them out except for that early blast in October.
