Just Installed My Re-Programmed PCM
First of all. Huge kudos to the speed of PCMforLess for the turn around of the loaner & re programming mine. I received the loaner last saturday morning, took mine out, installed theirs, went to the post office saturday afternoon, and priority mailed it out. It came back last night, tuesday night re programmed. How an earth that happened so fast is beyond me.
Now the fun stuff. Installed the re programmed PCM, and the truck fired straight up. I have Toyo 35", and a K&N air filter.
The difference is VERY noticable. More pull, more all around power, better shift points, and also firmer shift points. I have to go through some mountains on my way to work, which is 30 miles one way. I generally went into 3rd up the hilly parts so as not to lolligag. NOW, it does it in D easily and better than when I went into 3rd before. Drop it into 3rd, and YEAH BABY, this is what I have been looking for. This is a very impressive addition to this truck, and has made it a joy to drive. All the positive comments that have been published on this forum about PCMforLess, in my opinion, are right on the nose with there comments. In fact, I am so impressed, I am going to do my wifes Z71 tahoe.

Re: Just Installed My Re-Programmed PCM
yes, I am running the 87 octane fuel. I am also going to go 4 wheeling friday(any AZ wheelers want to come. Mud Springs, Log Corral & fr393). I am really looking forward to see the low end difference for wheeling.

Re: Just Installed My Re-Programmed PCM
It takes about a tank of gas to get the full benefit of the programming. To help the idle relearn, start up the H3 when cold and let it warm up to normal temps.

Re: Just Installed My Re-Programmed PCM
OK I just got mine yesterday (loaner). Now how hard was it for you to get the damn plugs off. And did you move your washer fluid bottle and over-flow?

Re: Just Installed My Re-Programmed PCM
No need to remove anything. The 3 plugs might be in there pretty good from not having been disturbed from the factory. Pull up on the red tags, lift the lock ALL the way up, and carefully wiggle the connectors off. it might take a few minutes, but they will come. I sprayed the connectors once they were off with electronics cleaner. Ensure on install that the plugs go all the way in.
Follow the instructions on the loaner for re learn. its all very easy.

Re: Just Installed My Re-Programmed PCM

Re: Just Installed My Re-Programmed PCM
I think it is because it has something to do with the vin # and all the network of crap in the 3. Anyhow, I was told to get the loaner and send mine in and when it comes back I would be stoked.
I am sure hopeing thats what will happen...

Yep, you can skip the CASE relearn that way. If you buy one outright, you would need to find someone to do the relearn for you. We realize that's kind of a pain for some people, hence why we offer the option of sending your PCM in, or using our loaner program (with leaves you with your PCM tuned in the end).
Thanks so much for the great review Nigel!!

You speak the truth, It was easier than I thought. I put the loaner in and followed the instructions (it said it wouldn't start) but it did and off I went. I have a lil less room to work with, my Airhorn tank is just to the right of it and the lines to it are in the way. But it was easy!

Re: Just Installed My Re-Programmed PCM
I was just looking at the order sheet. It has three options for towing. No, <1500, >1500. I couldn't find any aditional info on their site.
I don't normaly tow but would like to have the option available to me if I want to.
WHich option should I pick?

Re: Just Installed My Re-Programmed PCM
Flash them back.... Good question but I doubt my dealer would have an issue.

This is covered here. It's the last post on the page. http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...t=24540&page=2
They reflash it no charge. They just ask you cover shipping.

Re: Just Installed My Re-Programmed PCM
Awesome guys, very glad you are liking these things. I have personally put alot of time into developing them. If you don't mind share with us any MPG improvements you happen to see as that is one of my big goals. Good power increase and improved MPG.
Its too bad they don't come like this from the factory. I have a feeling they would more however it would put me out of a job that's for sure!
Thanks again
