Is it too late to install?
When I was at the dealorship purchasing my car, i asked him specifically if it has the monsoon speakers...he said "No". I shrugged, and said "hell, owell" but now i totally regret it. What I didnt realize was that no monsoon speakers means no MP3 playback capabilites. What I am wondering is...there is no way im putting a "system" into my H3, i like the console the way it is. So is it possible to have the dealor install the upgraded console with a better cd player...and maybe the speakers also? Or do they just do exterior work?hell i'll take the 6disc indash, but i just dont want to change the interface.

Re: Is it too late to install?
i dont think you can do that, but i also think that the monsoon system doesnt have mp3 capability either, cant quite remember. anyways you have options. you can upgrade to the OEM nav, i dont know much about that nav, or you can go aftermarket.
I thought that the 6disc indash came only with monsoon, but guess not. anyways the 6disc changer is one with teh radio (interface itself) you cant keep it if you wan to change it, unless you get a changer that you can mount somewhere else in the truck.
I personally went aftermarket, got a nav, cd, mp3, dvd and a bunch of other crap that can be played on it.
shop around do some good research before you decide on something, there is tons of after market stuff out there.

Re: Is it too late to install?
I have the Monsoon with the indash 6-cd changer. It won't play MP3's.
By looking at the owners manual you have to get the single CD player with MP3 written on the front. I don't think the Monsoon system has anything to do with it. You can always ask the dealer. But it may be cheaper going with an aftermarket.

Re: Is it too late to install?
I have the 6 CD Monsoon and I do not believe it has the MP3 capability. But then again, I didn't really want it. If you are planning on changing the stock stereo, I would certainly suggest shopping around...

Re: Is it too late to install?
In 06, there was only one MP3 player, it was well marked and only held on CD. As for installing the Monsoon, sure, it can be done. But if the wiring harness is different (i.e., does not contain the Monsoon wiring), it will cost a small fortune.
You would be better just to switch heads if you want to keep the factory look, and then have an aftermarket install an amp and better speakers.
You might be able to find the MP3 radio online, possible on eBay. For those who have switched out their radios for Pioneers, etc., some might sell the unit. I kept mine to bring the vehicle back to stock when I sell it, and I'll put the Pioneer in the new vehicle.
If you do purchase a new unit, you will have to have the dealer program it to the VIN, since when you connect it, it will immediately lock.

Re: Is it too late to install?
They sell the FM transmitters for the Ipod. Just got one for Christmas. Works like a charm actually. Was surprised the signal was so clear.
