I've had an odd sort of burning smell coming from the rear of my H3 for a little while now.
It didn't quite smell like hot brakes, and I didn't think it smelled that much like a toasting tranny.

The smell would only show up every so often and for a while there I thought I was imagining it. I crawled up underneath but didn't find anything so while I had it in for service yesterday I mentioned it to my service advisor.

I got a call back this afternoon saying that the pinion seal was leaking onto the exhaust and that was creating the burning smell. The repair will be done on Monday so it looks like I'm keeping their CTS over the weekend.

I think I'll be testing the Caddy's 0 to 60 (while in reverse) as well as it's ability to corner at 85.
