Will 08-09 H2 dvd headrest work in 05 H2?
Looking to see if anyone knows if the factory headrest DVD system #19166113 will work in an 05H2. Part number says 08-09, but Ive had one dealer tell me yes, one no, and one not sure...lol?
Any help appreciated.

My first thought is that they're different seats...you'd have to be certain that the headrest posts measure the same.

I have a suspect that year range is for the new interior style and compatability wise will work for previous years.

If the headrests posts don't fit you could always remove the actual DVD unit from the 08 Headrest, cut open your 05 Headrest and install the unit inside the 05 Headrest.
I installed a screen in the headrest of the passenger side rear seat for viewing from the 3rd row seat and it went fairly easy. It was the 1st time I ever did anything like that and would consider it a 3 on a scale of 1-10

Ok, Ill check the post width and diameter.
But what about how the units are powered?
I talked to some GM parts center place in michigan and they said no. Because of the can bus? I was under the impression it was powered directly and not thru the radio itself, cuz I know the nav radio is diff. after 07' but, I don't see why you couldnt hillbilly wire it up to a hot and not even put the radio in the mix?

Those headrests just plug into audio/video out from the head unit. I'm not aware of any communication back to the head unit...but I haven't had stock head unit for years and the factory options are becoming vauige to me.

Ahh.. they get audio from the FACTORY head unit!,, ok, now its making sense MUD.
I have the stock nav unit, but just picked up a Kenwood DNX6690HD, so this set up is prob not gonna work.
i'll prob just look at the aftermarket DVD headrests. Thanks!

Re: Will 08-09 H2 dvd headrest work in 05 H2?
They should work w any aftermarket head unit. Wires run down through the backrest and plug in under the seat. That connection has to go into the dash for the stock head unit. May have to do some splicing or adapters.
Bottom line is cost. If you watch Craigslist, screens go as low as $200 pair (screens only). You don't need a lot of quality off a screen that small.

just wanted to note I looked at my Alldata service manual and it didn't list a thing about video. My gm service manuals are w/ my rig at the bodyshop. Probably wont be out there for a couple days.
