We have changed the location for this Friday's snow run. Here are the details:
When: December 27th, this coming friday meeting at 9am
Where: Rincon-Shortcut OHV Route, located within the San Gabriel Mountains
Cost: Free, no charge, nothing
Whom: Your friendly neighborhood SCIHOG
Recently run, this trail is located amazingly close to Los Angeles, in the San Gabriel Mountains is a beautiful stretch of trail. We will be climbing to an altitude of nearly 5,000 feet in elevation as we progress along the crest of the Angeles National Forest. Almost 25 miles of scenary that is rated by BackCountry Adventurer as a solid 10. Recent reports of snow at higher elevations, along with a few fallen tress to conquer, some boulders to deal with and a few map-designated "difficult" areas. Other areas of greater challenge should be readily available for those unafraid of damage.
I am currently finding a location just off the 210 freeway for all of us to meet at. I need a location that is easy to see and has parking for us. We're looking to meet at around 9am and head up north (up Highway 39) to enter the OHV park.
I would appreciate if everyone could RSVP and give me your cell phone...we want to make sure everyone finds us and that we don't leave anyone behind!
Exact meeting location and diretions to follow!

The event is ON. The forest service has NOT closed the trail and I spoke with a ranger and confirmed our getting in. We will be issued free permits as well.
I was in Arrowhead over the weekend and took the time to check out a meeting area. From the 210 freeway, we will be getting off at the AZUSA offramp. From the Azusa offramp we will head north on Azusa (this is also Calif. Hwy 39). Head north on Azusa for approx. 1 mile (heading through city-mall shopping), just past Foothill Blvd, on the left (west side) is a SAV-ON DRUGS. We will meet there at 9am.
Please bring: CB radio or FRS radio (if you have one)
Lunch/drinks/snacks & chap-stick
Tow-strap (if you have one)
Camera
Complete spare tire AND jack/lug-wrench
If you get lost, are running late or ANYTHING; call me on my cell phone: (818) 497-6240.
Or/and you can call me tonite at home (818) 348-1460
