Also while I was in the engine compartment I noticed a bunch of rust spots, stains up by the passengerside air intake box where the windshield and firewall meet. It looks like splashed from welding! Anyone else have this?

I didn't notice any rust, YET! If you leave
your car running, you'll notice drop of water
every half a minute maybe from one of the steel
rods where water condenses (AC?). could this
be the cause of your rust?

No My rust is very hard to see, if you open your hood and look in the little hole in the passanger corner of the hood and air box there is a little nook back in there and that is where my rust is. I have already been to the dealer and they said it looks like weld spatter and is only surface rust. I am going to try to clean it with WD40 if that doesn't work it is back to the dealer for hood, cowling and airbox removal to get the rust out of there.

will WD40 remove rust....? i assume you are planning on using some kind of wire brush or something after spraying?
