Hey gang,
Has anybody done a non-dealer oil change at a Jiffy Lube type place? I'm stuck with no access to H2 dealer. If I remember, the front skid plate has to be removed to gain access, which would not be a normal thing for Jiffy Lube.

Just pulled out of one today, they do just fine. They can get to the oil filter, no problem, doubt you will find an air filter if needed though. I also just switched to the Q State synthetic. Third time thru oil can Henerys, and Jiffy lube. I would suggest telling them to make sure the oil filter is tightened properly--Mine was left loose One time.

I trook mine to jiffy lube a couple of times too. No problem. I don't think they need to remove the skid plate.

Wal-Mart with Mobil 1 and filter for 33-35 bucks need to check the receipt to be exact. They have changed mine about every 4500-5000 miles now and I have over 36,xxx. They will not find it in their computer because someone listed the manufacturer as AMC. They do a great job.

I went to a Jiffy Lube once a couple years ago. That Jaguar V12 needed special filters, I had to pay extra and was told Jiffy special ordered the filters. A months later my usual mechanic found out Jiffy did not change any of the filters. Outright cheating.

I was told any GM dealer could change oil etc. Just call ahead for them to order filters, Heard Caddy dealer is better than others.

My dealer charged me $26.95 for oil change, filter and 3K mile service. I get a complimentary wash and vacuum every time. Don't think Jiffy lube or Wal-Mart will do that!

Check out the OkC Chapter Page!

My Hummer dealer charges $150 for oil change and lube services, and they wash the Hummer too. 3 out of 4 times it rained on my way home from the dealership 3 miles away. Small drops started coming down just as I happily drove home admiring the shiny Hummer, had to step on the gas and hurry home. Unbelievable high price, yet every time I go there I see lines of GM vehicles waiting at the service area.

Note, I have 3 years service contract covering all maintainance.

I just changed the oil in the wife's H2.
Don't have to take anything off, some oil will get on top of skidplate and wiped off w/ rag.
The filter is a standard GM filter.

The problem I've had at multiple Jiffy Lube type places (this is with a Jeep Wrangler) is that, unless you tell them not to, they'll open up all of the plugs (tranny, diffs, xfer case) to try and upsell you on flushing/filling. Invariably, one or more of them end up leaking. I finally had to insist that they don't touch anything that I don't ask for. I'm going to try the dealer route for the first couple.

BTW, I asked the service manager at the dealer if he recommended synthetic, and he said no. What do you all think? Is he just trying to sell more oil changes?

The dealer can suck too. I had my first oil change at Sherman Oaks Hummer. These dip****s forgot to put my oil filter back in. I went on vacation the day after and returned to have all of the oil drained onto my driveway. They paid to have the driveway cleaned.

The second time I took it to Team Hummer in Pasadena. Dip****s #2 left my dipstick resting on top of the engine with a rag and forgot to close the hood latches.

Frankly, I would do it myself if I knew how. I'm sure it's not a big deal but I've never done it.

Regarding Jiffy Lube, I will never go there because just last week I took my wifes tahoe there. The tech asked what I drive. When I told him he said they are just Tahoes. Needless to say, I won't be spending money with that dumb ass again.

Hey Johnnyboy my door sill sticker mathces this one I pulled off Ebay. Except for the vin# and dates. The programmer for wal-mart put it under AMC not AM General..

I stand corrected. I ment AM General, not AMC. I was at the movies that night (AMC Theaters), I guess I was thinking movies when I typed that.
