I've had my deposit down for the SUT since October 2002. You don't know how hard it is to visit this site and not be envious of everyone who has an H2. Does ANYONE have any updates on the SUT? It's been a while since I've heard anything new and I can't go on waiting without any updates. The latest I was told by Hummer was that the production version SUT would be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2004 with vehicles being delivered in July 2004.
PS - This site is awesome and so is everyone on it. I visit it every day. Can't wait to get my SUT and become an official part of the family.

Sorry Al, no new news here. I do feel your pain though!
Last I heard was unveiling at the April (I think) Auto Show and delivery in June 2004. VIN'ed as 2005s. The April unveiling doesnt make sense though, releasing it so late. My dealer said orders & pricing should be available December/January timeframe.
I'm going to email HUMMER again & see what kind of form letter I get back. Maybe they've updated it.
Anyone else have anything. Help some sad brothers out....

What is it about the SUT? The bed is like 3' long. Why not get the regular version and trade it in for an SUT in the future?

For me - I like the look of it and the 3' bed will be perfect for what I need it for. Small messy stuff that craps up the back of a normal SUV. Shrubs, bags of lawn fertilizer, gas cans, etc.
And the wait until next spring fits my financial plan perfectly. I'm not ready to buy right now anyway. Thats my situation.

Either the "regular" H2 or the SUT would suit me fine but right now I'm leaning towards the SUT. Who knows, maybe when I actually see the production version of the SUT I won't like it. Na, no chance of that happening! I've always said one day I'll own a Hummer. I've looked at the Avalanche but it's almost a foot longer and isn't nearly as awesome looking as the Hummers. I don't need a large bed out back because I don't plan on carrying more than a mountain bike though I like knowing that I could carry something larger/taller in the bed that I could not carry in the H2. Don't get me wrong, the H2 is awesome and I would not mind at all owning one. Though if I did buy the H2 now I probably would not want to give it up for the SUT and I'd end up owning both - one for weekdays and one for weekends. Nothing wrong with that!

FYI:
Production update...they are 3 months behind schedule, looking for the SUT to arrive next May at the dealers.

I think that was the original plan? Or at least that's what they've been saying for the past 6 months or so. No prize for you!

Yeah, I did see those pics Alec, thanks for finding those! I'm kinda torn whether I think its a test vehicle or a custom. I'll have to scrutinize the pics some more

I did find out some more info on the Blue SUT pics Alec posted in the earlier thread.
According to some folks that were there when the SUT was at Wheeler Lake:
A GM film crew was out there filming a commercial for the SUT. The SUT was flown in to Colorado and taken to Wheeler Lake in a semi to keep it under wraps. Apparently they didn't want anyone taking photos. The bystanders were told to stand far back to stay out of the shots and be quiet during the filming. People watching said it was neat to see the SUT in action, but the driver had no idea what he was doing.
That's all I have. Too bad no info on the color...
