I have a club member interested in finding an in bumper winch for his H2. Does this exist. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey webman,
Wouldn't you want to be able to put that winch on the rear should you need it? It looks like this one is permanently installed.
Steve said you are the best off-roader of all time so please forgive me if my question is not worthy

Buckeye:
This person already has a removable winch. We were at an outing last weekend and he hit the winch more than once on obsticles. He feels he would rather have it tuck up inside the bumper, much like the mile marker on the H1. He is also a person who would not be out some where alone and feels that there would always be someone to help him. I agree it would be great to be able to move it from front to back, however I wouldnt want to impede my angles.
As far as the best off roader of all times, well Steve is a very sharp guy so he must be right. Ok maybe not.

I have designed and installed a winch bracket that does not interfere with the approach angle and with the pull of a pin it drops and swings out of the way so you can lower the hood. It can still be used in the rear, however if you have a rear mounted spare it needs to be swung open. I am trying to find a spot to include a high lift mount with it. If there is interest, when I get the high lift mounted I can post photos.

I have designed and produced a bracket to hold a winch inside the back of a H2. I am debating wheather it would be worth the money to patent it. I understand it takes at a minimum of five to six thousand to get a patent. After reading about the small percentage of people who off-road, I would guess the demand for such a bracket would be small. But I would never travel with the winch inside and unsecured.

here's what I made to keep my winch from sliding around/flying through the truck and killing me on steep hills (the warn variety, not the female variety).
it's not neat, but it has worked for 6 months. I call it the "hold the winch in the back of the truck thingy".
